Tabby Persian
General Description

When cat showing began in Britain in 1871, Persian Tabbies were shown from the start. Today GCCF recognises Persian Tabbies in Classic (Blotched), Mackerel and Spotted patterns, and in the following colours:
(Black) Brown
Blue
Chocolate
Lilac
Cream
Red
(Black) Tortie Tabby
Blue Tortie Tabby
Chocolate Tortie Tabby
Lilac Tortie Tabby
Plus, of course, the Silver versions of all the above colours.
The general type standard calls for a typical Persian cat with a round, broad head, short broad nose, full cheeks and firm chin. A cobby, muscular body, well boned legs and a short full tail. The coat should be long, dense, silky with a glossy sheen.
Eye colour in the Black Silver Tabby is green, hazel, copper or orange, green preferred, and in all other colours is copper or orange.
Tabbies have a gentle, laid-back temperament and make excellent family pets. However, as with all Persian cats, they will require regular grooming to keep their coat free of knots and in good condition. This need not be an onerous task, 5 or 10 minutes careful combing each day will ensure your Persian Tabby looks good and feels comfortable.
The Tabby Persian is catered for by 3 GCCF clubs, all of which run Championship shows with classes for Tabby Persians.
