14th January 2007 - Supreme Show Date Change
The 2007 Supreme Show will now be held on Saturday 17th November 2007 in Halls 17, 18 & 19 of the NEC.
As all exhibitors at the 2006 Supreme Show know, there were severe problems when arriving at and departing from the show hall
Although the NEC were well aware of our requirements they had not taken into consideration the sheer numbers of people, with cats and equipment, arriving and departing at the same time. Although the NEC staff sorted out various problems as soon as they were made aware of them, the situation remained very far from satisfactory, to put it mildly. Part of the problem was that we had been allocated halls in the older part of the complex, the Piazza access to which is more congested than the Atrium access to the new halls. An additional problem was caused by the number of events being held simultaneously, including the BBC Good Food Show which attracts a large number of visitors.
The only halls the NEC had been able to offer us for 24th November 2007 were, again, halls 3a and 4. At the time when we made the booking they were unable to offer us other halls on any other suitable date.
After lengthy discussions the NEC have made some rearrangements and were able to offer us Halls 17 - 19 (the halls used in 2005) on 17th November 2007 - a date on which we will no longer clash with the BBC Good Food Show.
After weighing up the advantages of the much easier arrival, parking and departure for exhibitors, trade exhibitors and visitors against the disadvantages caused by a change of date we decided to accept their offer. We apologise most sincerely to the four shows which were licensed for 10th November and to anyone else for whom this date change is inconvenient.
30th October 2006 - New Stud Book
The new Stud Book is now available from some some GCCF stands at shows and, by post, from the GCCF Office.
In order to produce the Stud Book, without sponsorship, in time for the Supreme Show it has been produced in a different format:

and all Semi-Longhair section breeds - occupy three volumes
Shorthair register breeds - British, Foreign and Oriental - occupy three
volumes
Burmese occupy one volume
Siamese and Balinese occupy one volume
The Champion lists occupy the final volume.
The cost at the Supreme Show or from GCCF stands will be:
Single volume of Stud Book - £9
Each additional volume purchased at same time - £7
Champion list - £5
Anyone purchasing all 8 volumes of the Stud Book at the same time will
receive the Champion list free.
For Stud Books purchased by post from the GCCF Office there will be an additional charge for post and packing.
22nd August 2006 - GCCF meeting with DEFRA
The Vice-Chairman attended a meeting with DEFRA to represent the GCCF views on the implementation of the EU Regulation on the Welfare of Animals During Transport. The meeting was very productive and everyone present, including the DEFRA representatives, hoped that it will be possible to exempt hobby breeders from these regulations.
26th July 2006 - GCCF response to DEFRA
The GCCF has formulated and submitted a response to the DEFRA consultation document on the implementation of EU Regulation 1/2005 on the Welfare of Animals During Transport
14th March 2006 - Rehoming cats
If you are planning to rehome an adult cat, please be aware that there are said to be people who, after acquiring a rehomed cat, often with a very plausible reason for wanting to give one a good home, are then re-selling the cat.
If you are approached by someone seeking an adult cat please make every effort to check their story. If, for instance, they wish to replace a cat which has died, ask if your veterinary surgeon may contact theirs to verify this.
It is always advisable to neuter any adult cat before it is rehomed.
