Can I show my Household or Pedigree Pet?

Indeed you can show your Household or Pet, and from the 1st June 2009, your pet will also be able to gain titles, and you will also be able to show your Pedigree Pet too. A Pedigree Pet is normally a pedigree cat that does not conform closely enough to the Breed Standard to be eligible to be shown in the pedigree classes or is a rescued cat with no papers. Non Pedigree and Pedigree Pets will be judged on presentation, condition, temperament and personality. To enter these classes your pet must be neutered if he/she is over 6 months of age. You will need to produce a vaccination certificate on arrival at the show and you must ensure that the vaccination certificate has the name of your cat on it, and this must correspond with the show entry. It is in order to put both the pedigree name and pet name if preferred.

Owners are reminded that Section 4 Rule 4c applies to Pedigree Pets; this is stated in Section Two Rule 5h2.

Section 4 Rule 4c
Exhibits which have been declawed, together with polydactyls, folded ears, curly tails and any other abnormality are not acceptable exhibits and a duty veterinary surgeon is instructed to reject them.

A list of Household Pet classes can be downloaded here and includes other helpful information.

The definition of Non Pedigree Pets and Pedigree Pets are:

The Non-Pedigree Pet group would be comprised of unregistered cats from unregistered or unknown parents as now. They would be of traditional "moggie" appearance either Long/Semi-Long or Shorthaired.

The Pedigree Pet group would be comprised of cats of pedigree appearance with known or unknown pedigree, full or half pedigree, background. These are cats that are as well loved and cared for as any other Household Pet.

Both Non Pedigree and Pedigree pets will be able to compete for certificates which will ultimately lead to the titles of Master Cat, Grand Master Cat and Imperial Grand Master Cat. The structure is explained below.

MASTER CAT TITLE
The title Master Cat (MC) shall be attained by the awarding of three Master Cat certificates by three different judges at participating Championship or Sanction shows licensed by the GCCF.

GRAND MASTER CAT TITLE
The title Grand Master Cat (GMC) shall be attained by the awarding of three Grand Master Cat certificates by three different judges at participating Championship or Sanction Shows licensed by the GCCF.

IMPERIAL GRAND MASTER TITLE
The title Imperial Grand Master Cat (IGM) shall be attained by the awarding of five Imperial Grand Master Cat certificates by five different judges at participating Championship or Sanction Shows licensed by the GCCF.
