Asian Cat Association
17th April 2010

Mrs D Stone

Heartiest congratulations Anna, Karen, Claire and all Officers, Committee & members of the Association on a truly splendid show and many, many thanks for inviting me to be a part of it.  The venue is easy to get to and is blessed with natural lighting which shows off the many coloured exhibits in all their glory.  You must have been delighted at having such an enormous & top quality entry (50 Asians & 20 Pets)!  I had a really exciting day’s judging ably assisted by GILL FRANCIS who has the patience of a Saint and who handles the exhibits with great competence and empathy.  Thanks a million, Gill, you were tremendous.  Thanks also to galley slave Carla and serving wench Sheila B-G for the delicious lunch and celebratory glass of bubbly – a votre santé!
AC NON-PEDIGREE Gd Master (Imperial) Class.    1 present.
1st & IGMC   HUTCHISON’s   GMC LEON.    SH Brown Tabby MN.    2 years.
Gorgeous chap with the most luxuriant whiskers I’ve ever seen, large expressive eyes and the most wonderful coat that had a shine in which you could almost see your face!   In splendid condition & very well presented, he was very shy and extremely reluctant to leave his pen but was daft as a brush when returned to it.  The only entry but a worthy winner nonetheless.  Well done.
AC NON-PEDIGREE Master (Grand Master) Class.    1 present.
1st & GMC  KITSON’s   MC SMARTIE.    SH Tortoiseshell & White FN.   5 years.
Such an attractive lady, so shy but oh, so sweet, despite her deceptive scowl!  Shown in very good physical condition with a lovely glossy coat but let down somewhat by the grubby bit of Vet Bed which needs a thorough washing!

AOC LH/SLH NEUTER +/- WHITE MALE NEUTER.    1 present.
1st. & MC   TURNER-RUSSELL’s    HENRY.    LH Black Tipped Silver.    12 years.
A charming “Chinnie” chap with the sweetest dinky little ears, lustrous green eyes enhanced by mascara, profuse whiskers & eye brows and the silkiest flowing coat groomed to perfection with not a hair out of place – he put me in mind of a lovely fluffy summer cloud, bless him.  A very dignified gentleman whose looks belie his years, he strolled back into his pen when he decided he’d had enough looking every inch a Master Cat & I don’t doubt will soon be a Grand Master.  My compliments to his doting owner for presenting him so well.  Thank you for letting me see him.
AOC LH/SLH NEUTER +/- WHITE FEMALE NEUTER.    1 present.
1st, MC & BOG   CHILCOTT’s    RIGA.    SLH Brown Ticked Tabby.   6 years.
A sensuous “Somali” siren in splendid condition and with a meltingly sweet disposition.  She has the largest most expressive hazel eyes enhanced with eye liner and fabulous ears that have  large tufts at the tips and long curling furnishings.  Her glossy reddish brown coat is ticked with black, her tail like a Cavalier’s plume and she has gorgeous tufts between her toes.  An extremely pretty femme fatale who could charm the birds from the trees if she wanted – she does you great credit &  ran “Wizzi” (see below) to a whisker when it came to my selection for Best Pedigree Pet.
SELF COLOURED SH MALE NEUTER, +/- WHITE.    1 present.
1st & MC  FINDLAY’s   LEO.    Cream.    19 months.
A handsome chap with lovely large lustrous golden yellow eyes and short glossy coat shedding like mad in the unaccustomed heat.  Shown in top physical condition he was sweet and gentle but tense with terror thus failed to show to his best advantage.  Perhaps he needs a few more outings?
SELF COLOURED SH FEMALE NEUTER, +/- WHITE.    1 present.
1st MC & BOG.   DAVIES’s   WIZZI.   6 years, 11 months.
What can I say about this gorgeous, cuddly armful who sang her socks off & loved us to bits?  She squeezed her expressive Primrose Yellow eyes at us and said “How could you possibly not just adore me?”  A matron of generous dimensions but solid muscle with a coat of the glossiest warm milk chocolate & shown in very good health she just oozed sweetness and love – neither of us wanted to put her back in her pen.  Very many congratulations on her richly deserved BOV & BIS wins.
AV TABBY SH NEUTER +/- WHITE.    1 present.

1st & BOG    AGUS’s    CHICO.    Brown.    14 weeks.
Utterly luscious little lad, still has his baby coat which is a little long & fine like duckling down.  Shown in top physical condition, he trembled continually bless him, but we cuddled and kissed him & he soon purred like a train.

Ravishing redhead in splendid condition with eyes you could drown in and the sweetest disposition imaginable.
2nd.     FINDLAY’s     CRUNCHY.     Chocolate.    6 months.
Another little doll in top condition – definitely very yummy but more like a silky soft chocolate truffle (my weakness) than a crunchy cinder toffee (called “Hokey Pokey” in Cornwall – Anna, take note)!
3rd.     MARKS’s     SHOOY.    Red.      8 months.
I’d hazard a guess that this little lady is litter sister to my winner?  Gorgeous girl of goodly size has gold eyes with a wicked scowl and a satin textured coat with healthy shine that is of lovely rich bright tangerine.  A shy retiring violet who didn’t do herself justice but shown in splendid condition & very well presented – she was so much happier in her pen, bless her.

AV NON-SILVER ADULT.    4 present.

2nd   LOVEGROVE’s    Ch CHAMORE WILDTHYME.    72 42hq Female.    3 yrs, 9 mths.
Lovely wide short blunt wedge, top of head is of good width but slightly flat now, medium sized ears have broad bases, rounded tips and forward tilt & are spaced well apart thus continue line of wedge.  Profile shows rounding to brow, slightly flat forehead, distinct break to nose that has a bump & rolls off at tip, deep level chin, and level bite.  Large lustrous yellowish green eyes have silvery clown marks above, are spaced well apart and have required downward slant to upper lids and fuller curve to lower lids thus have that unique frowning expression.   Well balanced mature queen of medium size has well shaped elegant body of good weight with hard muscular feel, slim well muscled legs of good length, dainty oval paws; broad based tail that tapers to a rounded point is of good length that balances body.   Medium length coat of warm milk chocolate tortied with varying shades of red has a near white undercoat that covers almost 1/3rd of the total hair length, is fine, close-lying with a lovely silky feel and healthy shine.  Shown in top condition I loved this lady who also has a meltingly sweet disposition – she just lost to winner’s superior profile.

2nd    HINKS’s   INYANGA TIFFKINS MIA.    68aq.    FN.    22 months.
Moderately short wedge of good width looking somewhat square in the muzzle that has a slight pinch today, good width to rather flat top of head, medium sized ears with rounded tips and forward tilt have plenty of width between and lovely streamers.  Profile shows rounding to brow, sloping forehead, well defined break to rather ling nose, deep level chin & level bite.   Large lustrous yellow chartreuse eyes have a dark blue outline, lovely long lashes, are spaced well apart and are of required shape having the slight downward slant to the upper lids and more generously curved lower lids thus have that unique frowning expression.  Mature elegant lady of medium size has well shaped body with straight  back & rounded chest, is of good weight & well muscled, medium boned muscular legs of good length have oval paws, tapering tail of good length that balances body has a small invisible end pip.  Whilst her silvery grey coat that was considerably paler towards the roots is fine, silky textured & glossy today it was very uneven in length (in the middle of her Spring moult perhaps?) especially the hair of her tail.  Shown in very good physical condition, she was happier in her pen.

AV SENIOR NEUTER Part A.    4 present.
1st  HARBOTTLE-SEAR’s  Gd Pr KARESAMA SILVER SEAPRINCE.  72 43bsq MN.  2 yrs, 5 mths.
Lovely short balanced wedge of very good width, top of head is wide and gently rounded; large broad based ears with forward tilt & rounded but tufted tips have plenty of width between thus follow the line of the wedge.  Profile shows rounded brow & forehead, well defined break to nose that has pink leather rimmed in chocolate, level chin of good depth, untidy bite.  Large lustrous opalescent green-chartreuse eyes rimmed in chocolate with paler spectacle-like surrounds (his left eye has a dark gold splodge in it) have a smudge of chocolate in the inner corners & ribbons from the outer corners, are spaced well apart and correctly shaped having the required slight downward slant to the upper lids and more generously curved lower lids thus have typical expression!   Large elegant well balanced mature chap has well shaped body of very good weight for size and super muscular athletic feel, slim elegant well muscled legs, neat oval paws have pinkish chocolate pads, tapering tail of good length & medium thickness has a slightly darker chocolate coloured tip & a silvery underside.  Superb coat is very short, sleek, satin textured and has a highly polished finish, is evenly shaded apart from the dorsal area which is slightly darker, the silvery base coat comes up just about 1/3rd of the hair; he has a few legs bars & the classic ‘M’ shape on forehead.  Shown in splendid condition he was somewhat hot & bothered by the time I saw him towards the end of the day but he impressed me greatly nonetheless - he does all his connections an enormous amount of credit & must surely go all the way.
2nd   EK’s    KARESAMA SILVER SEAMERCURY.    72 43 nsq MN.     2 yrs, 5 mths.
I note that this chap is litter brother of the above mentioned and quite similar.    Short blunt wedge of very good width, gentle rounding to wide top of head; broad based ears with forward tilt & rounded tips are of medium size, have plenty of width between thus follow the line of wedge.  Profile shows rounded brow & forehead, well defined break to nose that has pinkish fawn leather rimmed in bluish fawn, chin has depth but recedes thus is out of alignment with tip of nose.  Expressive eyes of opalescent green-chartreuse rimmed in bluish fawn with paler spectacle-like surrounds have ribbons from the outer corners, are spaced well apart and correctly shaped having the required slight downward slant to the upper lids and more generously curved lower lids thus have typical expression!   Elegant mature chap of very good size has well shaped body of good weight with required hard muscular feel, slender muscular legs, neat oval paws have pinkish fawn pads, tapering tail of good length & medium thickness has a slightly darker tip & a silvery underside.  Lovely short, fine, close-lying coat has satin texture and lovely healthy shine, is quite heavily shaded, the dorsal area is darker, the silvery base coat comes up just about 1/3rd of the hair; he has some legs bars & the classic ‘M’ shape on forehead.   Shown in tip top condition & very well presented sadly he was very upset indeed thus failed to do himself justice (he and his brother were winding each other up I expect).

1st  HINKS’s    ASHPUTTEL YUMYUMYUKI.   68 43 gs.   FN.   4 ½  years.
Short blunt wedge of very good width, lovely rounding to wide top of head, large broad based ears with rounded tips, streamers & forward tilt are spaced well apart thus continue line of the upper part of the wedge.   Profile shows rounded brow & forehead, definite break, chin has depth but recedes, level bite.  Expressive yellow-chartreuse eyes spaced well apart are large, lustrous, have required downward slant to upper lids & a fuller curve to lower lids, dark blue rims and paler “specs”.   Mature lady whom I’d prefer a little larger in size has weighty but muscular body, muscular but rather heavy boned legs could be slightly longer & more elegant, large paws have lovely tufts between the toes, tapering tail of very good length has lovely long silky hair that forms a plume.  Beautiful silky glossy coat a tad longer than medium in length is fine but dense, lies flat along her spine but has a lovely ruff & full breeches; colour-wise she seemed evenly shaded in a dark muted blue broken with varying shades of quite hot cream the colour coming quite a good way down the hair shafts, the silvery base coat coming about 1/3rd of the way up the shafts.
2nd   STEVENS’   TIFFKINS DANDYDANDELION.   68 dq MN.    2 yrs, 11 mths.
Good width to moderately short blunt wedge, top of head is wide & gently rounded, medium sized broad based ears with plenty of width between have rounded tips and streamers.  Profile shows rounded brow and forehead, break to long nose could be a little better defined, chin has depth but recedes, level bite.  Expressive large lustrous yellow-chartreuse eyes spaced well apart are of required shape having the slight downward slant to the upper lids and more generously curved lower lids thus have that unique frowning expression.  Mature chap of good size has weighty but muscular body with straight back & rounded chest, elegant legs of acceptable length are well muscled, large oval paws with pink pads have lovely tufts between the toes, lovely plume of a tail is carried proud, tapers to a rounded tip and is of good length thus balances body.   Lovely fine silky glossy coat is quite long with quite a good ruff and breeches, lies flat along the spine and is a lovely light bright tangerine that shades slightly paler towards the roots.  In top condition & beautifully prepared this aptly named chap was happier in his pen.

1st  FINCH’s    Pr WELLBRAND XPLORERS REWARD.   72 43 bsq.   MN.   8 yrs, 5 mths.
Short blunt wedge of very good width, wide gently rounded top of head, large broad based ears with rounded tips and forward tilt have plenty of width between thus follow line of wedge.  Profile shows rounded brow and forehead, definite break to nose that has pinkish chocolate coloured leather rimmed in chocolate, firm level chin & level bite.   Large lustrous green-chartreuse eyes have chocolate rims, paler coloured spectacle-like surrounds, a smudge of chocolate in the inner corners & ribbons from the outer corners, are spaced well apart and correctly shaped having the required slight downward slant to the upper lids and more generously curved lower lids thus have that unique expression!    Mature elegant gentleman has well shaped and muscled body of very good size and weight with required straight back and rounded chest, slender muscular legs of good length, neat oval paws have pinkish chocolate coloured pads, tapering tail carried proud is of good length thus balances body.  Super short fine close-lying coat has satin texture and healthy shine, is quite lightly shaded; tabby pattern is evidenced in an intricate scarab on his forehead, tail rings and leg bars.  In super condition but rather fed up by the time I got to him thus didn’t show as well as he might.
2nd  FARINTON-STEPHENS’s  Gd Pr CHAMORE CAPTAINCLOUDY.   72 43 aq.   MN.  7 ½ years.
Short wedge of good width looking rather square in the muzzle (mood – he was puffing out his whisker pads), top of head is wide and gently rounded, broad based ears of medium size have rounded tips and forward tilt but are a little high set.  Profile shows rounded brow and forehead, more of a ‘stop’ than a break to nose that has blue leather & is rimmed in blue, deep level chin and level bite.   Extremely large green chartreuse eyes rimmed with blue have required paler spectacle-like surrounds, are spaced well apart but are very full thus have more of a “Chinchilla” look than the scowl that should be an integral part of the Breed.   A very large lad who has a well muscled but somewhat overweight body lacking the required elegance, muscular legs of good length, neat oval paws have blue pads; tapering tail is of medium thickness and good length.  Medium length rather soft, dry feeling open coat seemed to lack gloss this afternoon, silvery grey shading is very heavy indeed making coat to appear almost solid in colour; he also had quite a lot of white around his nose and chin.   Shown in good physical condition but in need of fining down, he was happier in his pen.
