Bedford & District Cat Club
24th April 2010
Mrs S Luxford-Watts
Many thanks to Alan, Linda and their committee for their kind invitation
to judge and for the very welcome lunch. I am extremely grateful to Val
Swingler for stepping in to steward for me at the last minute she did
an excellent job and was good company too.
Imperial Foreign - Grand Champion Male: Imp & Res N/A 1st
BOND-WONNEBERGER'S GR CH FURBELL STARGAZER - 16a - M. 03.03.2008. Young
male of excellent Russian type. Good short wedge head with large vertically
set wide based ears with sparse inner furnishings. His eyes are set well
apart are almond in shape and vivid green in colour. Lovely gentle expression.
Good profile line showing a straight forehead, distinct angle and almost
straight nose.Very good prominent whisker pads. Level bite, chin needs
just a little more depth. Very graceful body of good weight but needs
more covering over his spine which is probably due to the time of year
and recent warm weather. Unfortunately his coat let him down today as
he is moulting and it needs more density and rather lacks sufficient softness
to its texture. His colour is a good even blue with a distinct silvery
sheen but there is some ghosting in evidence today. A lovely gentle boy
immaculately presented. My only reasons for not awarding him his Imperial
certificate were due to lack of coat density at this time and his leanness.
2nd. ALGER-STREET'S GR CH TYPHAST HURRICANE - 76 30 - M. 01.06.2006.
Broad wedge head which is slightly long for medium with rounded contours.
Medium size wide based well set ears. Almost round well set eyes of good
size which are light gold in colour. Profile shows a gentle curve. His
nose is broad. Level bite but his chin needs a little more depth. Thick
muscular neck. Muscular body of good length. Strong muscular legs of medium
length and large rounded paws. Medium length slightly tapered tail. Medium
length coat with a good texture but needing more density. His spotted
pattern shows very good contrast and lovely rufous colouring. In lovely
condition.
Imperial Foreign - Grand Champion Female: IMP THOMPSON'S UK GR
CH CHRISAN CORDELIA - 33 40 1w - F. 25.03.2000. Seal Point and White girl
looking very lovely today. Good medium wedge head with gentle lines and
large wide based ears set rather high on her head. Good profile line.
Well set medium sized oval eyes of a good depth of blue. Level bite and
very strong chin. Good muzzle. This girl is ten years old and her body
tone is excellent. Long legs and neat oval paws. Fine tapering tapering
tail to balance. Her coat is superb, it is short, fine, dense and with
the correct silken texture that so many Cornish lack. She has super deep
even waves all over her body. Shown in immaculate condition and a credit
to her owner/breeder.
Res. DARBY'S GR CH SILVERSMOKE SPINDRIFT - 23c - F. 21.11.2007. Another
really lovely girl and a very difficult choice to make between these two.
She has an excellent head which is a moderate wedge with gently rounded
contours, rounded forehead. Good width between her well set large and
well cupped ears. Large expressive rounded almond shaped hazel eyes. Her
profile shows a slight nose break. Slight indentation forming her slightly
rounded muzzle. Level bite and firm chin. She has a medium sized lithe
muscular body, slender legs and small oval paws. Broad based tapering
tail to balance. Her coat is short, fine and dense but is slightly soft
in texture. She has an amazingly good pinkish mushroom colour to her base
hair even in her ticked areas. Good head and facial markings. Very good
base colour around her muzzle and chin area. She has a faint well broken
necklet. Darker dorsal line which extends along the top of her tail to
a solid colour tip. Short blue heels. Very easy to handle and in excellent
condition.
Original Foreign Premier Neuter Male: GCC N/A TYLER'S PR MEGGYMOO
DONNCHA - 33 31s - MN. 23.03.2009. A Black and White Cornish Rex boy with
a medium wedge head with large wide based quite well set ears. He has
a flat skull, slight nose break and a straight nose. Well set oval eyes
of gold which are a good size. High cheekbones. Level bite and firm chin.
He has rather a thick neck. He has a fairly slender muscular body of medium
length. Long legs and neat oval paws. Tapering tail of good length to
balance. His coat is exceptionally short with an almost crisp texture
which is quite incorrect for the breed. Because his coat is so short it
is unable to wave sufficiently and give the typical luxurious depth to
the coat. I judged him as a kitten and gave him the benefit of the doubt
then but he is now an adult and it is still a problem. I judged his litter
brother last weekend and both boys have the same extremely short coat
and lack the correct texture although this boy does have more evidence
of the Rex gene. I would suggest these coats are due to an outcross in
their ancestry as in 43 years of judging the breed and 50 years of breeding
them these are the only two I have seen with this type of coat. In excellent
condition and with a sweet temperament.
Original Foreign Premier Neuter Female: Unusual to have mother
and daughter in the same class and both are mature ladies is great shape.
GPC & Res N/A 1st. BANDY'S GR CH & PR TROIKA MARIA MOREVNA - 16a
- FN. 08.06.2000. Looking extremely good at just short of ten years old.
She has a good short wedge with wide based ears of good size which are
virtually vertical in set with pointed tips. Her profile shows a straight
forehead, angle and a slight bump on her almost straight nose.Well set
almond shaped eyes of vivd green still. Level bite with all her incisors
present and a firm chin. She has excellent prominent whisker pads. Good
body length, long legs and neat oval paws. Moderately long tapering tail
in proportion. She is lovely shade of clear medium blue with a distinct
silvery sheen but her coat is a little long and lacking a little in density
today especially over her head, neck and shoulders due to moulting although
it does have quite a soft texture. In excellent condition and sweet natured.
A credit to her owner/breeder. Just not quite up to the grand today.
2nd. NOBLE'S GR CH & GR PR TROIKA AURORA - 16a - FN. 03.05.2002.
It was unfortunate I was the third judge to handle this girl in quick
succession so she really didn't have time to compose herself. She has
a good short wedge with wide based ears of good size which she held wide
of vertical and could not be persuaded to raise them for me. Her profile
shows a straight forehead and rather a straight profile line with a bump
on her nose. Almond shaped eyes set well apart are still of a vivid green
at 8 years of age, excellent. Level bite and firm chin. Prominent whisker
pads when alert. Very good body length, long legs and neat oval paws.
Moderately long tapering tail. Her colour is a clear medium blue with
a distinct silvery sheen. She has a lovely dense coat just needing a little
more softness to its texture. In excellent condition.
AC Colourpointed or Mitted Ragdoll Kitten Male: 1st DAY'S THUNDERCATZ
CASPER - 66a - MN. 13.09.2009.
Well grown boy with a good broad head with a flat plane. Well set medium
size wide based ears with a slight forward tilt. Slightly oblique eyes
are of a light blue. Profile shows medium length nose with a gentle curve.

more strength. He has a good muzzle. Long substantial body, medium length
legs with substantial bone and large round paws showing toe tufts just
emerging. Long bushy tail. Medium length dense coat with silky texture.
Good blue points all match with the exception of his tail which is rather
pale at the moment. Sweet temperament and lovely condition.

BITHELL'S MORANT MOULIN ROUGE - 66 - F. 30.07.2009. Lovely girl with a

set oblique wide open eyes of good clear mid blue. Lovely cheeks. Level
bite and firm chin. Rounded well developed muzzle. Short heavy set neck.

paws. Tail needs just a little more length. Medium length dense coat with

her muzzle as yet. Beige body colour lightly shaded in tone with her points.

BSH Lilac Kitten: 1st & BOB GOODGER'S YOMANDA KREDIT CRUNCH
- 15c - F. 31.08.2009. Good round head with neat well set ears. Well set
wide open eyes of a good depth of gold but with a slight green rim around
pupil as yet. Profile shows a round forehead and a short broad straight
nose. Cheeks filling out nicely. Level bite and firm chin. Short thick
neck. Cobby body with a short level back, short sturdy legs and firm round
paws. Medium length thick tail which is thicker at the base. Short dense
coat with texture developing well. Lovely lilac colour pales a little
towards the roots. Shown in excellent condition and easy to handle.
BSH Black Silver Tabby Kitten: 1st & BOB STAPLES' LIMATZ AB-FAB
- 18 - FN. 06.08.2009. This girl has a lovely broad round head with slightly
generous well set wide based ears. Profile shows round forehead and short
broad nose. Lovely full cheeks.Well set wide open round eyes of good size
with some evidence of green around the pupils which hopefully will clear
through. Level bite and firm chin. Good cobby body held low on her substantial
short legs with round firm paws. Medium length thick tail which is thicker
at its base. She has an excellent pattern showing very good contrast.
Good head and facial markings and good necklaces. Full butterfly on her
shoulders with both upper and lower wings clearly visible. Good spine
lines and very good oysters on her flanks. Legs well marked and lovely
spotted paws. Well ringed tail. Her short dense coat is rather soft in
texture. Shown in excellent condition.
Blue Abyssinian Adult: To be considered for and awarded BOB DARBY'S
GR CH SILVERSMOKE SPINDRIFT - 23c - F. 21.11.2007. See Imperial Class
above.
Oriental Tortoiseshell Kitten: Does Not Conform HATCHETT'S TIROLENA
MISS SPINDRIFT - 37j - F. 11.11.2009. This girl has good length to her
wedge head but her wide based ears need to be larger for balance and also
need more width between. Her light green eyes are rather rounded in shapeand
are straight in set. Profile shows a slight break and her nose overshoots
her chin, she also has a slight bump on her nose. Whisker pinch at present.
Level bite but chin needs much more strength. Elegant neck, well grown
body of good length and long slender legs with neat oval paws. Fine whip
tail to balance. Her coat is short, fine and close lying with a good gloss.
She has a very obvious clearly spotted pattern that would make most spotted
tabbies envious which is the reason for 'Does not conform'. I did consult
a senior Oriental breeder judge who was of the same opinion especially
as her colour pales underneath which is in keeping with a tabby rather
than a self. She also appears to be a Caramel Tortie rather than the Lilac
Tortie she is registered as. Shown in excellent condition and with a lovely
temperament.
AC Cornish/Devon Rex, LaPerm or Sphynx Breeders Kitten: BOUCHER'S
JONSCOTT ART DECO - 33a 36e - F. 06.01.2010. What a little stunner! A
proper little doll as well. She has an excellent short broad wedge with
high cheek bones. Large wide at base ears which are set low and wide apart
and well covered in fine fur. Wide set large oval eyes with characteristic
slant. Profile shows flat skull with brow curving to a definite stop and
short nose.Good strong muzzle. Level bite and firm chin. Just needs a
better whisker break. Slender neck, slender toned body of medium length,
slim legs and small oval paws. Tapering tail of good length to balance
and well covered with short soft fur. She has an exceptionally good coat
for one so young, it is short and of even length all over and is fine
and soft with gentle waves. In excellent condition and so composed. Absolutely
gorgeous. She looks more like a darker points than a straight tortie though.
One to watch!
