OPEN CLASSES
AC SOMALI GRAND PREMIER, MALE
IMP GPC WATTS’S CH & GR PR EMANAN BOOTSTRAP BILL (63c) MN 15.07.05 Blue
A handsome boy, strong & masculine with lots of presence. Lovely type, head a moderate wedge, broad between the ears with a whisker indentation and rounded muzzle. High rounded forehead & slight nose break in profile. Bite a little messy but level. Large ears cupped and set wide apart & large expressive green eyes. Strong muscular body with limbs to balance & tapering tail. Beautifully-prepared coat with a silky & fine texture. Ruff to frame the face, tufted toes & reasonably bushy tail. Soft warm overall colour with subtle blue ticking, warm colour to the underparts but base coat a little paler on the body. Good facial markings with lovely “specs” to emphasise his eyes. Unmarked chest. Shown in excellent condition. This was his 5th & qualifying certificate gaining him that elusive title and later in the day he went on to win Overall BIS – many congratulations to his doting owner/breeder.
AC SOMALI CHAMPION, MALE
GCC TAYLOR’S BRIZLINCOAT ARABIAN NITE (63a) M 31.05.07 Sorrel
A strong muscular & very elegant boy of 2 years. Lovely Somali look, head a broad moderate wedge with good width between the ears, whisker indentation and rounded muzzle. High forehead, good nose break in profile. Lovely chin, strong & deep and level bite. Large cupped ears set wide apart and large expressive green eyes of almond shape. Long body & long limbs to balance. Tapering tail. Silky & fine coat that lies close along the spine but of a shorter length at present. Quite rich overall colour with cinnamon ticking on an apricot base. Good facial markings but pale colour to his chin that extends down onto his chest. Darker spine line & cinnamon heels & tail tip. He had a bit of a grumble when out but was affectionate in his pen.
SORREL SOMALI ADULT, MALE
1ST CC TAYLOR’S BRIZLINCOAT OMAR KHAYYAM (63a) M 31.05.07
A 2 year old boy and litter brother to Arabian Nite. Not such a balanced head as his sibling but he had lots more coat and a richer overall colour. Head a broad moderate wedge with a slight whisker indentation & broad rounded muzzle. High forehead but rather a deep nose break in profile. Scissor bite and shallow but firm chin. Large cupped ears set wide apart. Large eyes that could be set more on a slant and they are a little rounded, especially when he was out of the pen. Elegant body with limbs to balance and long bushy tail. Good length to the coat which has a fine texture but could be silkier, became a little greasy after handling. Cinnamon ticking on an apricot base. Good facial marking with clear pencil lines, creamy chin. Darker spine line extending to a cinnamon tail tip. A little tense when handled but friendly in his pen where he gave me licks & nibbles.
BOB TAYLOR’S BRIZLINCOAT ARABIAN NITE
CHOCOLATE OR LILAC ABYSSINIAN NEUTER, FEMALE
1ST PC & BOB CUMMINS’S CRYSTALTIPS AMHARA DEWDROP (23d) FN 18.04.01
A mature lady of 8 years of age with as strong muscular yet elegant body though rather well fed! Head a moderate wedge but I would prefer more breadth between her ears which could be larger and more cupped. Slight nose break in profile, level bite with lovely teeth., especially for her age. Shallow chin that could be a little firmer. Eyes of good shape and set but they could be a fraction larger. Good depth to their greeny colour. Rather well-fed body with elegant limbs and quite long, tapering tail, thicker at the base. Dense coat, a little woolly but she was moulting heavily. Subtle dove grey ticking on a paler creamy base & an attractive warm overall colour. Lilac tail tip. Darker spine line, faint double necklet just broken & creamy-coloured chin. Mauvish pink nose leather & paw pads. A friendly outgoing girl.

Long neck & elegant and muscular body with long slender limbs and tapering tail. Close-lying fine coat but it is a fraction long. Clearly a silver with a silvery-white base to the coat. Distinct ticking, mainly chocolate, the tortie is difficult to spot, with some pale red mainly on the lower limbs.

1ST GMC LEWIS’S MC PEBBLES
A handsome shorthaired brown tabby boy, very cuddly and gentle and looking good for his 12 years. Shown in lovely condition and a good weight for his size. Expressive eyes with a gentle expression. Lovely glossy coat that emphasises his tabby markings. A pleasure to judge and well-worthy of this Grand certificate.
2ND MORLAND’S UMC TOBY THE TABBY
Another senior gentleman of 12 years and a shorthaired brown tabby too.. A handsome & gentle fellow, well-fed but not excessively so. Expressive eyes of a clear green colour. Moulting heavily on the day so his coat was probably not at its best. Very easy to handle though slightly more apprehensive than pebbles. A pleasure to judge.
TABBY CAT OF ANY PATTERN, WITH OR WITHOUT WHITE
1ST MC LEWIS’S MR TIGGS
A super alert & friendly boy, very keen on my teaser which he followed back into his pen. A young lad of just 2 years and strong, elegant & muscular. Expressive eyes of a clear green colour. Brown tabby with a mackerel pattern and spotted tummy. Shown in excellent condition.
2ND ISAAC’S LITTLE M
A tabby girl of 3 years who looks young for her age with a feminine look & large clear green eyes. Looking small in comparison to the other 3 boys in the class but perhaps she could carry a little more weight? Very dense coat though she too was moulting heavily on the day. She was a little shy but with a gentle nature.

Tail is thicker at the base, tapering and the tip is black. Fairly good length to black hocks. Short, fine coat lying close, rather silky at the moment. Usual Abyssinian Kitten, Female
1ST HOOKEY’S LOVELYNX ET SETI-RA (23) F 4.10.08 Just four months old – very sweet temperament. Good size, weight and condition. Good Aby look to her head, although her overall colour could be richer. Gentle head contours, muzzle a little narrow. Slight muzzle indentation. Very large ears with large tufts and good width between them. Eyes are rounded almond in shape, amber with a green rim. Chin, lips and nostrils almost white, more creamy under chin. Facial markings could be more distinct. Fine, soft texture to coat. Tail is thicker at the base and is just short of the shoulder. Short black hocks. Sandy cream undercoat and black ticking. Richer colour on her head and legs. Heavy smudgy broken necklet. Slight nose break and tip of nose rolls off. Level bite although chin falls away a little at the moment.
2ND DARBY’S SILVERSMOKE YVETTE (23) F 4.10.08 This poor young lady was very upset by the noisy cat in the next row and had also seemed to have lost her voice and therefore was not showing at her best. Eight months old and a good size and weight. Slightly long head proportions. Very large ears but held really low because she was rather frightened. I am sure that sitting at home she looks a different cat. Furry inner edges to ears. Slight nose break although tip rolls off. Level bite. Clear facial markings. Apricot undercoat and black ticking giving an overall rich golden brown appearance. Chin, lips and nostrils white fading to cream a little way down the chest. Eye shape rounded almond when relaxed in pen, amber/hazel colour. Double broken necklet. Good coat texture, short and close lying. Slight legs bars at the moment. Balanced length tapered tail with a black tip. Very good length to black hocks.
Blue Abyssinian Kitten Male

Level bite and good firm chin. Well cupped, quite large ears with good width between (without tufts). Eyes set well apart, rounded almond shape, amber with a green rim. Very faint broken necklet. Clear facial markings. Chin, lips and nostrils creamy white. Overall colour is a warm pinky mushroom although base coat along his back is a little white. Good ticking except across the shoulders where it is still developing – also he was moulting quite heavily. Long tail which could have a little more taper to it – tip blue/grey. Short, fine coat of good texture. Short, blue hocks. Very nice nature and handled well.

AC Senior (2-5 yrs)
1ST ISAAC’S LITTLE (FN) 1.6.06 Strange to say this but she is a very “pretty” girl but definitely has a slightly Scottish Wild Cat look. Slightly long coat, pale green eyes. Spotty paws. A serene and gentle girl.

Any Non Self Coloured Cat or Kitten Male
1ST LEWIS’ MR TIGGA MN 1.6.97
2ND MORELAND’S MADBADBAZ MN 16.5.01 A noisy boy but elegant and nicely shaped body. Very long tapered tail. Green eyes. Lovely soft coat of rich colour and pattern. Excellent size and weight and condition.
3RD MORELAND’S WHIRLWIND M 8.3.09 Also had a lot to say for himself and rather tense out of his pen. Lovely soft and well patterned coat. Rather frightened about the whole process I think as he was trembling.
Many thanks for the invitation to judge at this friendly, well organised breed show; Bob Murton stewarded with great consideration and was really good company to boot. It was lovely to have the opportunity to judge so many Abyssinians, and to see some of the rarer colours.
Sorrel Kitten Male: 1 WALKER’S MIKKAR FIRE-APACHE, 23a, 10/2/09. Sweet-tempered boy, with good width between large, well-tufted ears set to follow the lines of a moderate wedge, slight indentations forming a slightly fine muzzle at present. In profile, he has a rounded brow, slight nose break, level chin could be a bit deeper, level bite. Eyes are a deep brownish colour, still changing, set well apart, rounded almond shape in an oriental setting. Lithe body, slender legs and small oval paws, tail is quite thick at the base, tapers and reaches his shoulder. Coat is fairly short, close-lying and glossy, just a little soft in texture still. He has a bright apricot base coat, with 4 bands of chocolate ticking, giving an overall ticked copper appearance. He has chocolate pigment lines vertically from the inner edges of his eyes and horizontally from the outer edges of his eyes, and paler hair around his eyes, with a small area of cream hair on his chin. A darker spine line ends in a solid tail tip of chocolate, and there is solid chocolate on his feet – ideally, it should extend further up the back of his hind legs. He has a faint broken necklace; 2 GRAHAM & DAVIES' PONTABY REMUS 23a, 2/2/09. A little unsettled today, he has good width between medium-large eras set to follow the lines of a moderate wedge, slight indentations forming a slightly rounded muzzle. Eyes are set well apart, with a green inner rim and gold around the edge of the iris, rounded almond shape in an oriental setting. In profile, he has a nicely rounded brow, slight nose break shows a bit of a bump, chin could be firmer, level bite. Elegant neck and lithe body, slender legs and neat oval paws, tail is quite thick at the base, tapers and reaches his shoulder. Coat is fairly short, a little soft in texture at present, with a rather ‘sandy’ toned apricot base coat ticked with no more than 2-3 bands of chocolate, so he doesn’t have the lustrous rich overall copper appearance of the winner at present. He has chocolate pigment lines vertically from the inner edges of his eyes and blurred horizontal lines from the outer edges of his eyes, and paler hair around his eyes, with a cream chin. A darker spine line ends in a solid tail tip of chocolate, and there is solid chocolate on his feet – preferably, it should extend further up the back of his hind legs.
Female: 1 BOB LOCKWOOD’S SYRINX BEBOP, 23a 13/11/08. A little nervous, but very gentle, she has good width between large ears that she tended to hold a little wide, so they didn’t quite follow the lines of her moderate wedge until she relaxed back in her pen, when the set was fine. Slight indentations form a gently rounded muzzle. In profile, she has a slightly rounded brow, slight nose break shows a very slight bump, firm chin. Her eyes are deep gold around the pupil, with a green outer rim, set well apart, a rounded almond shape in an oriental setting. Elegant neck, lithe and muscular body, slender legs and neat oval paws, good tail is thick at the base, tapers and reaches her shoulder. Coat is fairly short, fine but not soft in texture, a little open today, but really shiny. She has a bright apricot basecoat with 4 bands of chocolate ticking, giving a lovely, really rich and lustrous ticked copper appearance. She has correct chocolate pigment lines vertically from the inner edges and blurred horizontal lines from the outer edges of her eyes, with paler hair around her eyes, and darker eyelid edges, with a cream chin. A darker spine line ends in a solid chocolate tail tip, and she has solid chocolate on her feet – I’d prefer it extended further up the back of her hind legs 2 EVANS' KOPERKAT LIPSTICK JUNGLE 23a, 5/3/09. Friendly kitten, with good width between large cupped ears that follow the lines of a moderate wedge, slight indentations forming a slightly rounded muzzle. In profile, she has a rounded brow, slight nose break with a slight bump, firm chin. Her gold eyes are expressive, set well apart and a rounded almond shape. Lithe body, slender legs and oval paws, tail of correct length but a little thin to balance at present. Her coat is short and fine, but not soft in texture, with a slightly paler apricot basecoat, with lots of chocolate ticking (more than 4 bands), giving an overall golden-copper appearance, rather than the copper required. She has chocolate pigment lines vertically from the inner edges and (very blurred) horizontally from the outer edges of her eyes, and paler hair around her eyes, with a very pale chin. A darker spine line ends in a solid tail tip of chocolate, and there is solid chocolate on her feet, extending well up the back of her hind legs.
AC Junior Male: 1 present. 1 BARRETT’S HIGHLIGHT CREAM RUPERT (23g), 15/10/07. Sweet-tempered boy, with good width between large, cupped ears set to follow the lines of a moderate wedge, slight indentations forming a rather angular muzzle. In profile, he has a slightly rounded forehead, slight nose break with a very slight bump, chin is level but could be firmer. His eyes are almond in shape, could be a bit more rounded, and are set well apart in an oriental setting, good deep colour. Muscular neck and lithe, muscular body; slender legs with small oval paws; tail tapers from a slightly thin base, reaches his shoulder. His coat is fairly short, fine but not soft in texture, with a cool-toned cream basecoat, ticked with 4 bands of warm cream. He has warm cream pigment lines vertical from the inner corners, and very faint horizontal lines from the outer edges of his eyes, pale hair around his eyes and some very pale hair on his chin, extending slightly to his upper lip. There is a slightly darker line of warm cream down his spine to a solid tail tip, and solid bases to his feet, which could rise higher towards his hocks on the back legs. He also has a faint broken necklace.
AC Junior Female: 1 present. BARRETT’S HIGHLIGHT KATRINA, 23ats, 29/5/08. Sweet-tempered girl, with good width between large, cupped ears that follow the lines of a moderate wedge, slight indentations forming a slightly angular muzzle. In profile, she has a rounded brow, only a very slight nose break, firm chin. Her eyes are almond in shape, need to be a little more rounded, deep gold in colour, in an oriental setting. Elegant neck, balanced & lithe body, slender legs & oval paws; tail is thick at the base, tapering and reaches her shoulder. Coat is medium in length, moulting, fine but not soft in texture. She has a good clean silver basecoat ticked with 4 bands of chocolate and red, the red appearing faintly on her head and feet primarily, giving an overall silvery peach and silvery red appearance. She shows slight vertical tortie marks from the inner edges and blurred horizontal lines from the outer edges of her eyes, and has paler hair around her eyes and chocolate ticking on her chin. She has a darker chocolate spine line and tail tip, and slight coloured marks rising a little way up her hind legs.
AC Male Kitten: 2 present. 1 GRAHAM & DAVIES' PONTABY SEVERUS, 23, 2/2/09. Smashing kitten, with good width between large pricked ears that are set to follow the lines of a moderate wedge, slight indentations forming a slightly rounded muzzle. In profile, he has a rounded brow, slight nose break and very firm chin, level bite. Eyes are rounded almond shape in an oriental setting, set well apart. Lithe body and elegant neck; slender legs and small oval paws; tail has quite a thick base and reaches his shoulder, tapering slightly. His coat is short and fine, but not soft in texture, with an apricot basecoat and 4 bands of ticking, giving an overall golden brown appearance, shiny and glowing with health. He has black pigment lines vertically from the inner edges of his eyes and horizontally from the outer edges of his eyes, and paler hair around his eyes, darker eyelid edges, and a cream chin. A darker spine line ends in a solid black tail tip, and there is solid black on his feet – it could extend further up the back of his hind legs. A noisy kitten, but easy to handle; 2 WALKER'S MIKKAR FIRE-APACHE, 23a.
AC Female Kitten: 2 present. 1 LOCKWOOD'S SYRINX BEBOP, 23a; 2 HOOKEY'S LOVELYNX ET SET-RA, 23, 16/2/09. Gentle girl, with good width between large tufted ears, set to follow the lines of a moderate wedge, slight indentations forming a slightly rounded muzzle. In profile, she has a slightly rounded forehead, only a very slight concave dip at the nose, chin is level but a little shallow – level bite. Eyes are amber in colour, rounded almond shape in an oriental setting. Elegant neck, lithe body; slender legs and small oval paws; tail is a little thin at the base at present, but reaches her shoulder. Coat is short, fine and close-lying, not soft in texture, with an apricot base coat and 4 bands of black ticking, giving an overall golden brown appearance. She has black pigment lines rising vertically from the inner corners, and horizontal lines running from the outer edges of her eyes; paler hair around her eyes and dark eyelid edges; pale hair extends to her upper lip from her chin. She has a darker spine line, running down her tail to a solid black tip; solid black bases to her feet; again, I'd prefer the solid colour rose higher up her back legs towards the hocks.
AC Limit Kittens: 1 present. 1 DARBYS' SILVERSMOKE YVETTE, 23, female, 4/10/08. Fair width between large, tufted ears that are set to follow the lines of a moderate wedge; slight indentations present, forming a rather fine and angular muzzle at present. Eyes are rounded almond shape in an oriental setting. In profile, she has a very slightly rounded forehead, rather a straight nose, good firm chin. Lithe, well-balanced body; slender legs and oval paws; tail is fairly thick at the base, tapers gently and reaches her shoulder. Her coat is short, fine but not soft in texture, with an apricot basecoat and 4 bands of black ticking, giving an overall golden brown appearance. Black pigment marks rise vertically, from the inner corners, and horizontal lines from the outer edges of her eyes. She has paler hair around her eyes, darker eyelid lines, and a paler chin. She has a darker spine line ending in a solid black tail tip, and black bases to her feet, I'd prefer the black rose higher on her back legs towards the hocks.
AC Premier: 1 present. 1 BRAZIERS' PR RYMIAT CABRINO, 23e, MN, 17/4/04. This boy was a little unsettled. He has good width between large ears set to follow the lines of a slightly long wedge, slight indentations forming a rather square muzzle. His eyes are an intense green colour, rounded almond shape in an oriental setting, set well apart. In profile, he has a rather flat forehead, nose is a bit straight, good firm chin. Elegant neck, lithe and muscular body; slender legs with oval paws; tail reaches his shoulder but is a bit thin at the base. Coat is fairly short, fine texture, with a very pale and cool-toned base coat, 4 bands of ticking giving an overall rather blue-toned fawn appearance. He shows faint vertical pigment marks from the inner edges of his eyes, but I was unable to discern horizontal lines from the outer edges of his eyes. He has paler hair round his eyes, and a very pale chin extending down his throat. A slightly darker line extends down his spine to a solid tail tip, and he has solid-coloured bases to his feet, although I'd prefer the solid colour extended higher up his back legs.
Veteran Abyssinian or Somali (over 5 years old): 1 present. I CUMMINS' CRYSTALTIPS AMHARA DEWDROP, 23d, FN, 18/4/01. Fair width between medium sized ears that are set a little high, so not quite following the lines of her moderate wedge, slight indentations forming a gently rounded muzzle. Her eyes are a pale gold colour, almond shaped in an oriental setting, could be a bit more rounded. In profile, she is a little flat at the forehead, has a slight nose break and level chin (could be a little deeper). Muscular neck and rather a plump body, she has slender legs and neat oval paws. Her tail is a little short to balance, fairly thick at the base, tapering gently. Coat is medium in length, the hairs fine but not soft, a bit thick in texture, with a rather cold-toned pale base coat, not really pinkish-cream in colour. I'd prefer she had more ticking – there are only 2 bands of a soft dove grey. She shows faint darker pigment lines rising vertically from the inner corners of her eyes, and blurred horizontal marks from the outer edges of her eyes. She has paler hair around her eyes and a darker eyelid edge. She has a slightly darker spine line ending in a solid lilac tail tip, solid bases to her paws, but I'd prefer it rose a little higher towards her hocks on her back legs. She has a very pale chin, with the pale hair extending to her upper lip.
Abyssinian Cat Club – Usual Female: 2 present. Unfortunately, No 3 was upset earlier in the day when I went to see her, and hadn't settled when we went back, so, rather than make her more unsettled, we left her in the pen – a pity, as she looked nice from what I could see. 1 POLLETTS' CH MYLEENUS BRYONY, 23, female, 20/9/02. Shy girl, with good width between medium-large ears set to follow the lines of quite a short wedge, slight indentations forming a gently rounded muzzle. Eyes are rounded almond shape in an oriental setting. In profile, she has a gently rounded forehead, slight nose break has a very slight bump in the nose, level chin could be a bit deeper. Elegant neck; lithe, muscular body; slender legs and oval paws; tail is thick at the base, tapers gently and reaches her shoulder. Coat is short, fine but not soft in texture, with a slightly pale and sandy coloured basecoat, 4-5 bands of ticking giving an overall golden brown glow. She has black pigment lines rising vertically from the inner corners, and horizontal lines running from the outer edges of her eyes; paler hair around her eyes and dark eyelid edges; very pale hair on her chin. She has a darker spine line, running down her tail to a solid black tip; solid black bases to her feet; again, I'd prefer the solid colour rose higher up her back legs towards the hocks. There is a faint broken necklace.

A darker spine line ends in a solid black tail tip, and there is solid black on his feet, extending up the back of her hind legs towards her hocks; REEVES' PR ANNERA LYNX, MN 20/9/06. Good width between large ears that were held a little wide, so not quite following the lines of a medium wedge, distinct indentations forming a gently rounded muzzle. In profile, rounded forehead, only a concave dip at the nose, slightly shallow chin, level bite. Eyes are rounded almond shaped in an oriental setting. Lithe & muscular body; slender legs and oval paws; tail is thick at the base, tapers slightly and reaches his shoulder. Short coat, close lying and fine but not soft, apricot base coat with 4 bands of ticking giving a lovely golden brown appearance. Vertical pigment marks rise from the inner corners and horizontal lines from the outer edges of his eyes. He has paler hair around his eyes and darker eyelid edges, and a cream chin. He has a darker line down his spine to a solid black tail tip, solid black bases to his feet and rising towards his hocks on his back legs; 3 HANSON'S MERRYDANCER DODDLE DAN, MN 26/4/08. Solid neck and rather a plump body, slender legs with oval paws, tail is thick at the base, reaches his shoulder and tapers slightly. Coat has very good texture – short and fine but not soft, close-lying, an apricot base coat with 4 bands of ticking, giving a golden brown appearance. He has vertical pigment marks from the inner corners and horizontal lines from the outer edges of his eyes, paler hair around his eyes and darker eyelid edges, and a pale chin. He has a darker line down his spine ending with a solid black tail tip, solid black bases to his feet , rising towards his hocks on his back legs.

Coat is short, fine, but not soft in texture, and he has an absolutely gorgeous rich, bright apricot base coat, with 4 bands of chocolate ticking – difficult to define, as the base coat was so rich-toned, but could be seen in better light. He has clear vertical pigment marks rising from the inner corners and horizontal lines from the outer edges of his eyes; paler hair around his eyes and darker eyelid edges, and a cream chin. He has a darker chocolate line down his spine to a solid chocolate tail tip, solid bases to his feet and rising towards his hocks on his back legs; 2 DAVISON'S PUSSINI RED REDOLFO, 23a, 1/9/08. AC Kitten Household Pet: 2 nice pedigree pets. 1 TAYLOR'S LIBBY, a gentle girl, very well prepared, although she did smell slightly of cigarette smoke, but friendly and easy to handle; 2 MORELAND'S WHIRLWIND, an extremely noisy kitten, though he was not difficult to handle, well prepared, with a good soft coat. I understand this was his 1st show (he was also in the next class, for cats never shown before!), so hopefully he will settle down next time.
A most enjoyable show in the beautiful city of Stratford upon Avon; I would like to thank the Show Manager and the committee for their kind invitation and warm hospitality. The lunch was scrumptious! I was also very grateful to Sue Amor for stewarding and steering me through the day; I really appreciated her excellent company. A number of the cats were very tense as one of the pedigree pet kittens was extremely noisy, yowling for most of the day, but I have to say they were sweet natured despite their stress.

1 GCC SHAMMAS’ GR CH MIKKAR ASHANTI WARRIOR, 23, M, 31.12.2007
A very handsome, balanced male of excellent foreign type. Moderate wedge with gently rounded contours. Large ears, well cupped, pricked and with small tufts were set wide apart and followed the lines of the wedge. Rounded muzzle. In profile there was a slight nose break and the chin was firm. The eyes were a rounded almond shape; they were set wide apart with an oriental setting. Lovely rich amber tone and they were very expressive. Elegant neck. Lithe, muscular body with a straight back and rounded at the rib cage. Slender legs with neat, oval paws. The tail was thick at the base; it tapered but was blunt at the tip. He was an excellent rich golden brown with a ruddy orange base coat and well defined black ticking. The facial markings enhanced his type and expression. He had a line of black along his spine and down the tail with a black tip. He had black spurs rather than heels. Clear of necklet or barring. The coat was short and fine but resilient in texture; it was close lying with a healthy gloss. Excellent condition and temperament.

1 GCC SHAMMAS’ CH MIKKAR LITTLE MYNX, 23, F, 29.12.2006
I was interested to see who this female was because I have always particularly liked her expression. She was balanced, elegant and confident with very nice type. Moderate width with gently curving contours. Slight indentations formed a rounded muzzle. Large ears, well cupped and set wide to continue the lines of the wedge. Beautiful eyes of rich hazel tone with spectacles and dark eye liner to emphasize their expression. They were set well apart with an oriental slant but were a rounded almond shape. Very good profile showing a slight dip but the chin could be a tad firmer. Excellent body, legs and tail. The coat was short, fine but had the correct texture; the colour was rich with a clear bright apricot base and well defined black ticking and markings. Excellent condition and temperament.
RES: BATES’ CH MERRYDANCER BAILLEE, 23A, F, 5.7.2007
Another very pretty female of very good type and well balanced. The wedge was moderate with gentle contours. Large, well cupped ears that were set wide; they were pricked, giving her an alert look. Large eyes of rounded almond shape in an oriental setting and a bright hazel tone. In profile, she did have a slight break but there was also a tiny bump. Good chin depth. Muscular body that was lithe and elegant. Slender legs and neat oval paws. The tail was thick at the base and tapered to a rounded tip. It was of balanced length. Rich sorrel made up of a bright apricot base ticked with chocolate. Excellent facial markings and tiny heels. Excellent condition and temperament.

AOC ABYSSINIAN ASSESSMENT, ADULT
MERIT AWARDED TO BARRETT’S HIGHLIGHT CREAM RUPERT, 23G, M, 15.10.2007
A really friendly and relaxed male who was so easy to judge and enjoyed being handled. Moderately short wedge with rather a blunt finish to the muzzle. Large ears, cupped and set well although he tended to hold them rather high. Almond eyes in an oriental setting. Concave curve to the profile and fair depth to the chin. Lithe, muscular body that was firm and elegant. Long, slender legs and oval paws. The tail tapered and was a balanced length. The coat was short, fine and close-lying with the correct resilient texture. I found the colour impressive. He was a soft, warm cream with a creamy base coat and well defined ticking in a darker cream. Darker cream line down the back and tail with a dark cream tip. Excellent condition and temperament. I did have some issues with the head type but overall, the body type and the excellent colour and ticking deserved the Merit award.
MERIT AWARDED TO BARRETT’S HIGHLIGHT KATRINA, 23ATS, F, 29.5.2008
A pretty female who was also friendly and relaxed. Moderately short wedge with a slight whisker pinch to the gently rounded muzzle. Well set ears that were cupped and pricked. Almond eyes in an oriental setting. Her profile was a little straight and the chin sloped away. Excellent lithe, muscular body that was elegant and of foreign type. Slender legs and neat oval paws. The tail was a balanced length and tapered. The coat was of medium length, slightly longer on the back but was of the correct texture. Excellent, clean silvery white base to the coat. She really did give an overall impression of cool silver peach with some silvery red patches between the ears and on the legs and paws. The chocolate and red ticking was even with attractive facial markings and small spurs on the back legs. She was shown in excellent condition and she showed herself to great advantage.

1 IMP GPR PATEY’S CH & GR PR MYCENE MACGREGOR, 23E, MN, 6.3.2001
A mature and handsome fawn of excellent type and balance. Moderate wedge with gentle contours. The top of the head and the brow were gently rounded with large ears set wide apart to follow the lines of the wedge. They were well cupped and pricked with tiny tufts. The eyes were large and very expressive; they were set well apart, rounded almond in shape and in an oriental setting. The colour was a clear hazel. The body was a little plump but not sufficient to blur the type and he was in superb condition. Slender, elegant legs and neat, oval paws. The tail tapered and was a balanced length. Excellent coat quality, it was short, fine, resilient, dense and close lying. The colour was warm with a fawnish creamy base and deeper, defined fawn ticking. Excellent condition and temperament.

An impressive sorrel who was so attractive and with a typical expression. Balanced moderate wedge with gently rounded contours to the head. There was excellent width between the large, well cupped and pricked ears. They continued the lines of the wedge. Her eyes were large, set wide apart, rounded almond in shape and in an oriental setting. Clear amber tone. Slight nose break and a firm chin. Elegant neck. Lithe, muscular body with a straight back. Slender, elegant legs and neat oval paws. The tail was thick at the base and tapered to a rounded tip. Excellent coat quality; it was short, fine and resilient with a dense texture but was close lying. She really was a lustrous copper with her bright apricot base and chocolate ticking. Well defined facial markings and small heels. Line of chocolate extended down the back and tail to the tip. Excellent condition and temperament.

1 PR/WH BRAZIER’S PR RYMIAT CABRINO, 23E, MN, 17.4.2004
I felt this neuter was rather Oriental in type with a triangular wedge that lacked the gently rounded contours asked for in the SOP. The eyes were in an oriental setting but needed more fullness to give the rounded almond shape. Large ears cupped and set well apart. In profile, there needed to be more of a nose break and the chin to be firmer. Muscular body of medium length with slender legs and oval paws. Tail tapered and balanced well. The coat was short, fine and close lying. I had some issues with the colour as I felt there was a pink tinge to the coat making it appear almost lilac. The nose leather also was a mauvish pink rather than the tone of pink expected for a fawn. I did explain my concerns to the owner later, giving her my reasons for withholding the certificate. Excellent condition and temperament.

The 80th year of the Abyssinian Cat Club and what a really excellent shoW Ruth Hopkins, the Show Manager, her family and the committee put on. They gave a very warm personal welcome to everyone. We had some excellent Abyssinian and a few Somalis to judge. The standard was very high. Ruth's mother, Joy, helped by David and Lois, produced a fantastic feast. My thanks also to Joan Hobson who came and stewarded for me. We had some very strong classes but most pleasing was the quality of all the kittens entered, a good omen for the future. Many of the cats, especially the females were worried by the calls of a household pet kitten, constantly demanding attention. Finally, "I'm not closing the show until you've eaten all the cake" is without doubt the most intriguing announcement from a Show Manager I've heard in a long time.

eyes well set. Strong facial markings, free of bars or necklets. Spine
line, solid tail tip and solid colour on the hocks a dark milk chocolate.
Distinct ticking. Coat a little long but lies well with a resilient texture.
The lack of warmth in the undercoat and basecoat is disappointing. She
won the BoB on the strength of her type. Handled well out of the pen.
1st CC Hansell's NISHALKA ANISSA, 08/05/08
Very much an adolescent with a lot of growing to do. Overall she has good
size and weight. Legs and feet are in proportion tail tapers from a fairly
wide base. Head is a little out of balance at present, needing more width
for its length. Moderate nose break firm chin and a level bite. Large
well set ears following the line of the wedge. Eyes a gently rounded almond
in shape, well set. Clear facial markings. white on chin an lips, devoid
of any barring or necklets. Spine line distinct, good length to the solid
tail tip and some chocolate on the hocks. Well ticked on a warm apricot
basecoat. A little wriggly but once relaxed allowed a full assessment.
Blue Abyssinian Neuter, Female
1st PB & BoB Shammas's GRCH MIKKAR BLUE CANDYTUFT, 30/07/01
Mature girl with a balanced solid body. Tail needs more width at the base
and is a little short for balance, commensurate legs and feet. Head shows
a balanced wedge, with a gently rounded muzzle and a marked whisker indent.
The profile shows a distinct nose break, a firm chin with a level bite.
Well set eyes, large ears that follow the line of the wedge. Broad facial
markings well defined, rather grey on the lips, white on chin. Blue spine
line, solid blue tail tip, small amount of blue on the hocks. No bars
or necklets. Coat short and fine with an excellent resilient texture.
Warm undercoat and pleasingly a warm mushroom basecoat, ticked with pale
blue. A little shy at first but handled well out of the pen and stood
on the trolley to show herself off.

1st Taylor LIBBY F 26/02/09
A very dainty girl, very much a baby, a black ticked tabby. An open smiling
face with a pleasing expression. Prominent black ear tufts. Beautifully
presented. Despite the noise of her neighbour very relaxed by the whole
show experience A pleasure to handle.
2nd Moreland's WHIRLWIND M 08/03/09
Only just eligible to be here. So demanding of attention. All he wanted
was for someone to fuss him constantly! Very stylish swirled pattern in
browns on a copper background. Constantly on the move and wanting to get
on both my and my stewards shoulder making it very difficult to judge.

Very upset by his young neighbour. An elegant long body. A deep copper
bronze with clear black spots, a glossy sheen to the whole coat. Expressive
green eyes. A strong cat that was not happy out of the pen.
