Mrs L Ashmore

My thanks to the club and show management for my invitation and to my steward Simon Twigge. He drove me to the show on the morning thus saving the club the extra expense of train tickets and hotel accommodation. As a show manager myself I know only too well what a struggle it is for small breed shows. We had a lovely day, the food was delicious and the cats were all a delight to handle. I wish the breed and the club every success on their journey to a Championship show.
AC Champion Female
Gr Ch. Lloyd’s CH NAMOONA DAMARA. Bronze.
A very vocal young lady with typical expression to eyes, which were of good colour and contrasted well with her coat. Well placed medium ears, broad at base and slightly pointed. Level bite. Muzzle flowed nicely into the contours of her head.
Slightly tense body, well muscled and of overall good conformation. Colouring slightly paler but affording good contrast to display her markings. Nicely presented in lovely condition.
Res.Gr Ch. Davidson’s CH TIGGERMAU TASHAMAU. Silver.
Another pleasing example with good eyes for shape and set. Long graceful body with hard muscular feel. Shoulder blades high and prominent. Elegant limbs and neat feet.
Fair tail to balance. Coat of medium length, well marked generally some vertical stripes on sides. Well shown in tip top condition.
Silver Adult Male
1st cc. McRae’s EMAUS CHANCE OF MESKHENET
A lovely boy who just wanted cuddles. He has a slightly rounded wedge without flat planes and of medium length. Medium ears well placed and of good shape. Developing jowls, a busy boy no doubt. Nice profile, muzzle and chin, level bite. Body showing well developed strength and with a hard muscular feel to it. Pleasing coat with very clear markings which were even more evident when viewed from a slight distance. Easy to handle and well presented in healthy condition.
2nd Bateson’s NEWKINGDOM ULYSSES
Slightly round eyes gave him a slightly surprised expression but they were of a good colour. Nice profile lines, fair chin and level bite. Well spaced ears, broad at base and moderately pointed. Medium sized body, long and graceful with a hard muscular feel.
Pleasing coat texture with nice healthy sheen to it. Markings clear overall.
Silver Adult Female
What a delight, but what a headache this class was with 8 super girls entered, it seemed to take most of the morning to judge this one class.
BOB Kennedy & Higgins IMP GR CH ADCINSH SOBEKOTEP
A simply stunning example of the breed, who went on to win Overall Best In Show,
Congratulations!
1st cc. Knight’s MAUOLOGY SERENITY (Page2)
A very aptly named young lady just under a year old but looking very mature. Head shape and eyes giving a nice overall representation of the breed. Well spaced ears,
broad at base and slightly pointed at tips. Nice weight and feel to body. Elegant limbs and neat almost round feet. Tail fairly broad at base and tapered to tip. Pale silvery ground colour affording a perfect contrast to her clear black markings. Delightful character who just loved everybody.
2nd Morton & Hagland’s NEWKINGDOM JASMINE.
A very promising demure young girl who ran the winner very close as the saying goes.
Fabulous eyes with that very special ‘look’ so vital to this breed. Level bite, fair chin, a tiny bit narrow at her muzzle just now. Nice body shape limbs and tail. Coat still looking a bit kittenish, slightly longer and a bit open, but with very good colouring and pattern. A bit shy but handled very well, one of those cats you have to spend some time with to get the best out of them. I look forward to seeing her again in a few months time when she’s matured on a bit more.
3rd Dr Bateson’s PANTON PENELOPE
Rather shy girl not showing herself to advantage. Typical expression to her pale green eyes. Ears set well with good width between. Profile showing very gentle contour with a slight rise from the bridge of the nose to the forehead. Fair chin and level bite. Some slight tarnishing on nose. Firm body, elegant legs in proportion to body. Neat almost round feet. Coat texture resilient, colouring pale silvery ground colour with charcoal grey markings of reasonable clarity.
Imp A.C Grand Premier Male.
Imp Gr Pr. Anderson-Keeble GR PR SANTILLO FEROMESES MERCURY. Silver.
Slightly rounded wedge with gently rounded muzzle. Fairly firm chin and level bite.
Pale green eyes set straight in his head with an upward slant to the lower lid.
Moderately large ears with fair width between. Strong body of good conformation if
somewhat plump. Tail moderately thick at the base and tapered to tip. Coat of medium length, dense and resilient in texture. Markings very clear on head and body, charcoal grey tail tip. A very confident character resplendent in his double pen.
Imp.A.C Grand Premier Female
Imp Gr Pr. William’s GR PR SANTILLO JASMINE. Silver.

A pleasing lad with the most charming character. Fair profile line and chin, level bite.
Eyes very slightly smaller than desired and tending to look a bit on the round side.
Medium ears held a wee bit high on occasions. Graceful body and elegant limbs.
Coat slightly longer but lays well and has spotted pattern clearly visible. A real time waster just wanted loads of cuddles.

Mrs A Gregory

This was a relaxed, friendly occasion with many special touches so I will start by thanking Sean and Sue for their hard work and enthusiastic input into our club show. I was privileged to judge some beautiful Maus and thank all the exhibitors for supporting us with such an excellent entry – 30% increase in numbers this year which is amazing in the current economic climate! It was really gratifying to see the Silvers, Bronzes and Smokes in the Adults, Kittens and Neuters! I was also very grateful to Kim Board-Allam for braving the Foreign Section and meeting the Maus! I do hope she enjoyed her day; I must thank her for her sympathetic handling of the cats and excellent company. Although this was the club’s First Sanction Show, Sean and Sue had produced special Egyptian Mau Club Certificates for the Imperial, Grand and Open Classes. That is why it appears in my critique that certificates were awarded.
IMPERIAL MAU – AC GRAND CHAMPION EGYPTIAN MAU, MALE
1 IGC KENNEDY & HIGGINS’ GR CH ADFURSH SOBHEK, 78 30S, M, 4.10.2003
A handsome, masculine but balanced male of excellent Foreign type and style. The head formed a slightly rounded wedge and was of medium length. The ears were moderately large, broad at the base and slightly pointed. There was ample width between them and they were set well back on the head with a forward cupping when viewed in profile. Level brow. The nose was of uniform width but marginally straight when viewed in profile. Rounded muzzle that flowed into the contours of the head. Large eyes of rounded almond shape and excellent gooseberry green. He had the distinct “worried” look that is so crucial to the Mau. Medium length to the body with an excellent hard, muscular feel. Elegant legs of moderate boning with neat paws that were almost round. Tail of moderate length that tapered slightly and gave overall balance. Moderately short coat with the correct resilient texture. Excellent contrast between the pale silver ground and the charcoal grey well separated spots. Spine well broken. Sobhek’s daughter, looking extremely beautiful; she is serene, confident and shows herself to great advantage. Excellent type and style with a rounded wedge and muzzle. Excellent green eyes; shaped like rounded almonds and set beneath a level brow. The body was a little plump but not sufficient to blur her elegance yet! Very good legs and tail. Medium length coat of excellent texture. Pale silver ground; excellent facial markings and separate spotting that contrasted well with the clean silver. Beautifully presented in excellent condition and with a delightful, friendly temperament.

Mrs P Read

I was delighted to be asked to judge at The Egyptian Mau Club’s 1st Sanction show.
I had a very enjoyable day and thank Sean and Sue for my invitation.   I also appreciated the marked catalogue.

SILVER KITTEN, MALE

1st  Davison & Von-Wunschen’s  TIGGERMAU RAHNMOON  24.10.08

This friendly boy was easy to handle and judge.
Slight rounding to wedge of medium length.   In profile, his nose has a slight rise and is of uniform width, showing gentle contour with a slight rise from the bridge to his forehead which flows back to an arched neck.   His muzzle is slightly narrow but is gently rounded with firm chin and level bite.   Ears are of medium size,  broad based and moderately pointed but held slightly high.   His eyes are fairly large and rather rounded in shape, a darkish gooseberry green but set straight in his head with level brow and a fairly good upward slant to the lower lid.   Body is of medium size with hard muscular feel with high shoulder blades, elegant legs and small dainty feet in proportion and long, well shaped tail to balance.   The coat is short and close lying with good sheen – fairly dense with two bands of ticking.   The facial markings show a clear scarab and mascara lines on the cheeks.   The upper chest shows two broken necklaces, body markings are of small random charcoal grey spots with fairly good contrast to silver ground colour.   Underside is spotted with well-barred front legs.   Spinal lines and elongated spots merge together forming a dorsal stripe which darkens and continues to the tip of the tail which is banded.

SILVER KITTEN, FEMALE

1st & BOB  Case’s  STARRSAILOR MAUVELOUSMISTY  23.12.08

What a lovely baby!   At first she was rather afraid, but after a few cuddles she relaxed.   Her head has very good lines, showing rounded wedge with good width to muzzle and firm level chin.   The profile shows a gentle contour from bridge of nose to forehead, flowing back into arched neck and with nose of uniform width.   Ears are broad based with moderate pointing, slightly flared and set well apart with correct forward slant.   Her pale gooseberry green eyes are well shaped and set straight beneath level brow and show slight upward slant to lower lid.   Her medium sized body is well developed for her age and has a hard muscular feel, with elegant legs and small dainty feet.   Tail is moderately thick and tapers slightly.   The coat is of medium length and close lying with good sheen, showing two bands of ticking.   Overall her body markings show random spots of variable size and shape with bars and spots on front legs and the tail is heavily banded with dark tip.   Her head markings, although pale at present, show characteristic “M” and frown marks as well as the typical scarab design.   The lines continue between her ears, down the neck and along the spine.   Her cheeks show mascara lines from the outer eye and meet those from her ears and a faint broken necklace is apparent on her chest
This baby shows promise and I look forward to seeing how she progresses.

2nd  Peasland’s  AYSIFA AZIZA  07.07.08

Almost an adult, less 3 days!   A friendly, confident girl.
Slight rounding to top of head with rather long and narrow wedge and chin recedes slightly.   Nose, which is uniform in width, has a gentle contour with rise to forehead, flowing back to neck.   Unfortunately, there is noticeable tarnishing across the nose and muzzle.  Ears are of good shape and size and are fairly well placed when relaxed.   Eyes are large, gooseberry green in colour but lack the required upward slant to the lower lid.   Good weight to medium sized body with elegant legs and small rounded feet.   Tail is of medium length, thick at base and tapering.   Her coat is close-lying, of medium length and has lustrous sheen, a lovely silver with bands of ticking and showing lighter bands.   Very good spots on body, well distributed overall with stripes on legs and the underside shows clear spots, spine has elongated spots which merge and darken along the back to tip of tail.   Her head markings show “M” and frown marks, nice mascara lines and broken necklaces on chest.

3rd  Whitehouse’s  STARRSAILOR SOPHIS  10.09.08

I was rather taken aback to find this kitten had blue eyes as I did not know of its existence.
Apart from this, I also felt she more resembled a British type as her head was rather broad and round, in profile her wedge was rather short and her ears small and set rather low.   The markings are pale and indistinct and her coat dense, but with good ticking.   Dorsal markings are faint although the tail is darker.
Sadly, I found this baby to be rather nervous and agitated.

SMOKE KITTEN

1st & BOB  Kennedy & Higgins’  MESKHENET MIYOKO  F 10.09.08

What a personality!
Her head shows rounded wedge of medium length.   In profile the nose shows a slight rise at bridge flowing into arched neck without break and the width is uniform.   The ears are medium in size, broad at base with a slight flare, are cupped forward and well spaced continuing the lines of the head.   Her gooseberry green, almond shaped eyes are large and rounded, are set beneath a level brow and have the desired upward slant to lower lid giving an alert expression.   Her body is medium in size, graceful and well developed with hard muscular feel and high shoulder blades and her legs are long and slender with small rounded feet in proportion.   Her tail is of good shape and length, tapering to end.   Her coat is short, close lying, silky and fine with lovely sheen.   The ground colour has the desired pale silver undercoat tipped with black and her excellent markings, which are jet black, contrast very well and are clearly visible on the ground colour.   The nose, lips and eyes are outlined in black and her throat, chin and nostrils are lighter in colour.   Her forehead shows a distinct “M” and frown marks giving the unique worried expression.   The lines extend between the ears and down the back of her neck breaking into spots.   The cheeks show barred mascara lines and her chest has a few broken necklaces.   Her spots are random and clearly seen on her body and tummy.   The front legs have stripes and small spots and her tail is well banded with dark tip.
Overall, I loved this girl, who has a lovely, outgoing nature.   I chose her as my best kitten.

AC NOVICE ADULT

1st  Morton & Hagland’s  NEWKINGDOM JASMINE  (78 30s)  F  22.04.08

A very impressive, but shy girl.   Her head shows slight rounding to wedge of medium length.   The gently contoured rise from the bridge of her nose to forehead, flows back into an arched neck.   Her nose is of uniform width and the muzzle flows into the contours of her head and her chin is firm with a level bite.   Her ears are cupped with good width between, broad at base and well spaced between, continuing the lines of her head.   Her eyes are of lovely shape, gooseberry green and almond shaped, set straight beneath level brow and showing a “worried” look.   Her body is firm and muscular with high shoulder blades, legs are elegant and feet are small and dainty with a tail of medium length and thickness, tapering to end.   The coat is short and close-lying with lovely sheen and shows bands of ticking to the pale silver ground.   The markings are reasonably well defined on her breast with broken necklaces, but the spots on her body and underside are more marked.   The spinal lines reach the rear haunches and merge to dorsal stripe along tail as standard.   Her forehead markings show desired “M” and scarab with lines extending backward between the ears, cheeks show mascara lines and her legs have typical bars and small spots.

What a beautiful girl she is.
Gentle rounding to wedge of medium length.   Her profile shows a gentle contour and slight rise from bridge of nose, which is of uniform width, to forehead and flows to her neck.   Her muzzle is rounded, with firm chin and level bite.   Ears, which are of medium size and broad at base, have good width between and are set well back, having moderate points and are slightly flared.   Her almond shaped eyes of light green are large and open showing slight upward slant to lower lid and set beneath a level brow.   The body is well developed with hard, muscular feel and high shoulder blades.   The legs are elegant with small dainty rounded feet, tail is medium length, slightly thick at base and tapers to end.   Her coat is short, close lying and silky with very well defined charcoal spots on a clear silver-white coat.   Palish head markings show the desired “M” and frown marks on the forehead with typical scarab design on top of head and dark lines extending from behind the ears down the neck, which break into fine spots along the spine.   The cheeks show barred mascara lines with curved upward stripe from the centre and the line at the outer eye merges below the base of the ear.  The body markings are distinct with random spots extending along body with good contrast between the paler silver ground and the underside is pale silvery white.
Her chest shows broken necklaces with stripes and spots on shoulders.   The front legs have faint bars with heavy banding on tail and dark tip.
An excellent girl who became Best in Show.   Congratulations to her owners.

Another lovely girl.   Her head has slight rounding to wedge and profile shows slight rise with gentle contour to forehead.   Nose has parallel lines and muzzle is firm with level bite.   The ears are well shaped and set apart continuing the line of the head.   Large and rounded, almond shaped eyes of gooseberry green with unique “worried” look.   Body is of medium length, graceful with hard and muscular feel and her legs and feet are in proportion, with long and well-shaped tail.   The coat is of very good texture, short and close-lying, a very pale silver which tended to look silvery white on the chest as well as on her underbody.   Her head markings show barred forehead with “M” and frown marks.   Scarab design apparent on top of head with lines extending back between ears, mascara lines on cheeks.   Body spots of charcoal, randomly placed and of variable size are well contrasted.   Dorsal stripe as standard merging along top of tail to tip.   Upper chest shows broken necklace.   A very good natured girl.

Slightly rounded wedge of medium length.   The nose is of uniform width shows a slight rise at bridge and flows into arched neck without break.   Her medium sized ears have ample width between, are broad based, slightly flared, are set well back and cupped and continue the lines of the head.   Her gooseberry green, almond shaped eyes are a touch small, but are set beneath a level brow and have the desired upward slant to lower lid which gives the unique “worried” look.   Her muscular body is medium long and graceful with high shoulder blades.   Her legs are elegant and in proportion, the rear ones giving the appearance of being on tip-toe.   Feet are small and dainty.   Tail is well shaped and of good length, tapering to end.   Her dense coat is short and close lying, with bands of ticking apparent.   The colour is a beautiful warm copper brown and fades to a paler tone on her tummy.   Her markings are dark brown, contrasting well with the paler roots.   Shades on ears are pinkish and throat, chin and nostrils, pale ivory.   Her nose is brown and outlined in dark brown as are the eyes and nostrils.   On her forehead, the “M” is clear with scarab design and the cheeks have desired barred mascara lines.   She has a couple of broken necklaces on her chest.   Her body is randomly spotted, as is her underside.   Spine lines and longer spots merge at her haunches, forming a dorsal stripe and continues along the tail to tip.   She has stripes and spots on her shoulders, front legs and haunches.
A very attractive girl my first bronze Mau.

His head shows all the correct features – Slight rounding to wedge, profile of gently contoured nose with slight rise and uniform nose, firm muzzle with level bite.   His moderately sized ears are set well apart, broad at base, slightly flared and continue the line of the head.   Beautiful, expressive gooseberry green eyes are large and resemble rounded almonds, are set straight beneath a level brow and show slant to the lower lid.   His body is long and graceful, well developed and his legs and feet are in proportion, as is his tail which is long and tapering.   His coat is of  medium length, is close-lying and has a lovely sheen – dense in texture with contrasting ticking to the pale silver ground colour.   Beautiful black random-sized spots overall, slightly lighter underneath, and the correct dorsal stripe ending in solid black tail tip.   His facial markings show the typical “M” and scarab design, frown marks which give the unique worried look and mascara lines on cheeks.   Also apparent are broken necklaces on chest and spots/bars on front legs.   A lovely boy, with terrific nature.

2nd  Crouch’s  CWMDARRAN AZRAFF  (78 36)  MN  20.06.08

Slightly rounded wedge of medium length with firm chin and level bite and in profile the nose is gently contoured with a slight rise at bridge – is level in width and flows to neck.   His ears are quite well shaped, but held a touch high for perfection.   Expressive eyes have a slightly yellow tinge but are well shaped.   Body is medium in size and muscular with legs and feet in proportion.   Tail is medium in length and tapers to end.   His coat is medium in length and lies close to body, with lovely sheen.   The ground colour is black with pale silver undercoat, as are the markings with silvery white roots.   His facial markings lack the “worried” look but his body is well spotted, as is his underside, and his chest and legs are slightly less marked.

AC DEBUTANTE NEUTER

1st  Burrows’  JAZZMAUSIC AMISI  (78 36)  FN  12.06.08

This girl looked impressive.   Wedge is slightly rounded and chin is firm with level bite.   The profile shows a gently contoured nose with a slight rise and uniform width.   The ears are of medium size, broad at base with forward slant and set well apart.   Her eyes are a beautiful shape, almond with lower slant, and are a deep gooseberry green – very expressive.   She is of medium size and build, muscular to feel and her legs, feet and tail are in proportion.   Her coat is of medium length and close-lying and has a lustrous sheen – colour black with a pale silver undercoat.   The forehead is barred, has the “M” and frown marks.   Top of head shows scarab design and on cheeks mascara lines.   She has broken necklaces on the chest with bars and spots on front legs and the body shows beautiful clearly seen black spots of various shape and size, and on the underside.   Spinal line has elongated spots which merge to form a dorsal stripe to the tip of the tail, which is black.   I enjoyed handling her as she is so sweet natured.

AC SENIOR NEUTER

1st  Lloyd’s  PR NAMOONA CLYDIAS  (78 30)  MN  04.11.03

A senior citizen – but a very impressive boy.
His head has a rounded wedge, in profile there is a slight rise to his nose, which is straight and uniform in width and a firm chin with level bite.   The ears are well spaced, medium in size and slightly flared with forward tilt.   Eyes are a pale gooseberry, rounded in shape with level brow and slant to lower lid.   Body is strong and muscular with high shoulder blades, elegant legs, small feet and medium length tail, which tapers to end.   His coat is short and close-lying, slightly soft in texture, with lustrous sheen, a warm copper brown with paler roots contrasting well.   The brown/black markings are well defined, both on his face and body.   A definite “M” and scarab design are apparent on head with lovely “worried” look and mascara lines on cheeks, broken necklaces on chest and body markings show definite spots of large and small spots elongated at rear and forming a dorsal stripe along the tail ending in a dark tip.   I liked this boy very much.

1st  Williams’  GR PR SANTILLO JASMINE  (78 30s)  FN  03.07.07

A most impressive exhibit.
Her head shows a rounded wedge and profile has a gentle contour with a slight rise from bridge of nose to forehead flowing back to neck without a break.   Nose is of uniform width and muzzle has gentle rounding.      Chin is firm with level bite.   Her ears are of medium size, are broad at base and well shaped with forward tilt.   Her eyes are gooseberry green, large and almond-shaped, set straight beneath her brow with a slight slant to her lower lid.   Her graceful body is medium in length with high shoulder blades, her legs are elegant, her round feet small and dainty and her moderately thick tail is medium in length.   Her markings are excellent – the head shows typical “M” with scarab design and worried expression, mascara lines on cheeks, broken necklaces on chest and beautiful body markings of black random spots which contrast well on the silver ground colour which has pale silver roots.   Her legs are barred with spots.   Extremities are outlined in black  and the elongated spots merge along rear haunches to form dorsal stripe which ends in black tip to tail.

A very striking, confident boy who wanted attention and cuddles!  Slight rounding to wedge with gently rounded contours to head which rise from nose to forehead and flow back to neck.   Uniform width to nose and gentle rounding to muzzle which also flows into neck contours.   Firm chin and level bite.   Ears are medium size, broad at base with moderate points, and slightly flared, set well back with the line continuing the head shape.   Large and expressive gooseberry green eyes are almond shaped and have desired upward slant to lower lid.   Distinct “M” on forehead with characteristic frown marks and scarab design on top, the markings extending upwards between the ears, down behind the neck into the spine line.  Weighty, well developed body of medium length, hard and muscular feel, with high shoulder blades and muscular neck.   Long and firm legs with well shaped feet in proportion.   The tail is long, of medium thickness and tapers to end.   Coat is medium in length and close lying with lustrous sheen, pale silver with two bands of ticking.   His body shows some  palish black random spots, with stripes on legs and small spots on feet.   The tail is heavily barred with dark tip.   A very affectionate boy who wanted to stay out of the pen!

Her wedge is of medium length and shows slight rounding.   Her nose shows a slight rise and is uniform in width, although it has a slight bump.   The chin is firm with a level bite.   The medium sized ears are well shaped, flared and set well apart.   Her eyes are large and almond shaped, gooseberry green and set straight with slant to lower lid.   Her medium sized, muscular body has elegant legs and small, dainty feet in proportion with a medium length tail which tapers slightly.   Her coat is medium in length and is close-lying with a good sheen.   Pale silver coat fades to silvery white at roots with numerous small spots, randomly spread with elongated stripes.   Facial “M”, scarab markings and mascara lines apparent – as is “worried” look.   Correct dorsal stripe colouring to tail tip.   Broken necklaces on chest with spots and lines in front legs.   This girl was a sleepy-head, but was happy to be handled and had a super nature.

BRONZE KITTEN

1  HUNT’S GENIMAU SUKI 7830  F 9.7.08
This was a very nicely balanced kitten with a good head overall. There were no flat planes to the head and there was a gentle rounding to the head. The ears were of good size and set well on the head and were close to the ideal. The eyes had good almond shaped rounding with a slightly flatter line to the upper lid.  I would have liked them a little fuller for perfection. They were ins a pleasing rich green colour. The body had good muscle tone and was firm. The legs were of good length for balance and the feet were almost rounded. The tail was of good length an dit tapered well to a black tip.  bronze on this girl was a little cooler toned and did not qite have the rich bronze desired by the standard of points. There was good contrast between the spots which well defined and well spaced.  There were two necklets, one dark and one light both of which were broken.  The head had a complex scarab on the head and also possessed well defined mascara lines. An attractive girl and shown well. I hope her coat does develop.

AC.  VIP  ( EXHIBITORS WITH 3 OR MORE CERTIFICATES)

Two attractive boys who I have met before and both a credit to the breed.

1  KENNEDY AND HIGGINS’ IMP GR CH ADICINSH SOBEKOTEP MWSHERI  78 30S F   2 12. 04

Such an attractive boy with presence. The head was excellent and as required by the standard with no evidence of flat planes. The head was balanced and had a lovelyh gentley rounded muzzled just slightly more rounded that his stable mate at second in this class. Super ear set and just the right size for balance. Good width at the base and forward lilt and carrying the outer edge of the head so well.  The eyes were just so good for an almost almond shape and for size and colour which was a  pale gooseberry green. The nose had good shape being parallel for most of the length.  The body was firm and so well muscled. The legs were of good length, well muscled and the feet were rounded. The tail showed a good tapering along its length and was of typical good shape. The coat was of excellent quality. It has the typical resilience of a silver but lay well and was shortish in length. The contrast and definition were excellent and even better when he was out so taking advantage of the available day light. The spotting was varied in shape. There was a well defined scarab on the forehead and the mascara lines were equally well defined. There were two and a half necklets which were well spaced and broken.  Overall this boy had a super look and showed himself to advantage.  Congratulations to the breeder and exhibitors.

2  KENNEDY AND HIGGINS GR CH ADFRUSH SOBHEK 78 30S M 4.10.03
A strong male of good type and with a certain presence and style.  A good head with a medium wedge which was gently rounded.  A good muzzle and the dip in profile was only just present. The eyes were of super shape and size and set in in very pleasing mid-green. They were of attractive almond shape. The ears were well placed on the head, of good size and shape. The head was impressive and he possessed that really good typical worried look with a level brow. The body was firm and well muscled. The legs were slim but muscular. The tail was of good length and it tapered well. The coat was of very good texture. It was shortish and lay well to the body. The spots some of which were random and elongated were in charcoal colouring. There was good definition overall and with pleasing contrast. A good pale undercoat. There was werll defined agouti marking. Thee was a well defined scarab and mascar lines with a pale broken necklet. There were stripes on the upper legs and on the tail which ended with a charcoal tip.  Shown in very good condition.

A C BREEDERS ADULT

  1. BATESON’S NEWKINGDOM ULYSSES  78 30S M 22.4.08

A very good balanced head. This boy had a good rounded wedge and it was of medium length.  There was a gentle contour with a slight rise from the bridge of the nose. The nose was particularly of good type quite parallel and the side profile showed a slight dip in the profile which was as required. The eyes were of good shape and typically like rounded almonds. They were set straight in the head with a little slant on the lower lid. They were in an attractive green. The ears though of good overall shape and set I would have preferred a little larger. The legs were slim and elegant and ended in rounded paws. The tail was of medium length and it tapered slightly.  The coat was of medium length with a good sheen and it lay close. The silver had typical resilience. The base coat had some ticking which darkened the silver a little but it was free of any tarnishing. The head was clearly marked with a well defined scarab and with mascara lines. The body marking were quite well defined despite the slightly darker base coat. The spotting gave way to lines on the upper legs Overall an attractive boy of good type.

2 JAZZMAUSIC JABARI 78 30S F 12.6.08
Another with an attractive head showing a good balance with no evidence of flat planes on the head and with a good rounded muzzle. He possessed good eyes for size and shape and typically like rounded almonds in green. The ears were again just a little small for perfection but they were of good overall shape and set. The side profile showed the slight dip in profile. The body was firm and well muscled and elegant. The legs were of good length with medium boning as described by the SOP. The feet were quite neat and rounded. The tail was of medium length and it tapered well.  The body was covered in many many smaller spots which reduced the area of the base coat which was a pristine silver. There was good contrast. The spots of charcoal clearly did not offer the same degree of contrast as black. There  was a complex scarab and mascara lines. There were lines running over the head and over the neck and back.  There were stripes on the legs and tail with transitional spotting / bars on the legs. Another stylish boy.

3  KNIGHT’S MAULOLOGY SERENITY  78 30S F 8.4.08
A very pleasing girl. Overall she had a pleasing head with no flat planes and possessed a rounded wedge of medium length. The head was just a little narrow than I would have liked  a little more width in the muzzle. The ears were good for setting and size and tiled forward slightly with good width at the base.  The profile dip was acceptable with just a hint of a bump on the nose.  The eyes were of good overall shape and set in green with a darker green inner rim. The chin was of pleasing depth. The body was firm and quite well muscled. The legs were of slim appearance and were well muscled and of pleasing length ending in rounded paws. The silver was a good clear undercoat and it lay well to the body. The black markings were very good for contrast and were well defined. There was some agouti ticking in the base coat but it was overall good. There were the usual scarab on the forehead and lines running over the head. There were mascara lines and there were stripes on the lower thighs which gave way to spots on the upper thighs and body. The tail was ringed with a black tip and there were two broken necklets. Well presented for the show.

4 DAVISON’S CH. TIGGERMAU TASHAMAU 78 30S F  25.1.07
A girl of pleasing type. She had no clear faults. A pleasant rounded wedge of medium length. The ears sat quite well on the head and showed good width at the base and were of overall pleasing size. The eyes were of a light green and were acceptable for their almost almond shape and set with good rounding to the bottom lid, though the upper lid did not possess the typical level look desired. There was a slight dip in the profile. The body was firm and well muscled the legs being slim and of good length. The feet were of good rounded shape. The tail tapered well and was well ringed. There was a well defined scarab on the forehead and there were line running over the head. There were two broken necklets. The spots were quite well defined on the body. There silver on the body was very clear of agouti ticking and was pristine in appearance. The spotting of charcoal reduced the contrast.  Presented well.

5 MACRAE’S MESKHENET MASHEETA  78 30S F 20.5.06 This female was friendly and attractive but I did feel her face was just a little too rounded and small looking for the typical Mau. The ears while of good overall shape and setting were probably just a little smaller than desirable. The eyes were of good overall shape and set in a green tone.  She did not have the typical worried look . She had a pleasing body with good muscle tone. The legs were of good length and good round feet. The tail was good for the way it tapered and balanced the body. The coat was interesting. It lay well and was of good length though there were noticeable guard hairs which protruded above the surface and which I had not seen before in a Mau. There was fair definition and contrast in the coat. There were overall good markings on the head and two broken necklets.  Shown well.

6 BATESON’S NEWKINGDOM NIKE  78 36 F 28.5.05   A smaller Smoke girl with a smaller head overall.  The ears were of good overall shape but just a little smaller than I would have preferred. The muzzle was quite rounded and there was a slight muzzle pinch. The body had a good muscle tone just appearing a little more compact than the standard requires. There were quite good spots for definition but the contrast needed to be more noticeable on this smoke girl. The silver undercoat was a clear pristine silver.  The texture of the coat was excellent being quite silky with a fine feel. The upper throat , chin and around the nostrils were lighter in colour.  The legs were of acceptable length being fine though well muscled. The feet were quite rounded.  The tail tapered well.  This girl was well presented for the show.

2 LLOYD’S CH NAMOONA DAMARA  78 30S F 22.12.04   A girl of smaller size and with overall pleasing type.  She had a nicely balanced head with no flat planes and with a gently rounded muzzle. If anything the head was just a little too rounded although she did appear to have the  typical ‘worried look’. The eyes were so typical and well set in the head with that slight angle to the lower lid. They were of good size and were very appealing. There was a slight dip in the profile. Overall I would have just liked a little more depth from the top of the head to the chin.  She did have a good feel to her body which was firm and deceptively heavier than she looked. The legs were slim but well muscled and the feet were quite round. The tail was of good shape tapering well to a balanced length. The coat was of excellent texture it was short and fine and lay so well with a lovely sheen and it was wonderfully soft. It was of a rich warm coppery bronze.  There was a well defined scarab and chin straps as well as two broken necklets. The spotting was well defined on the coat and contrasted well with the coat. Shown in good condition.

1 PEASLAND’S OITMOONSOON SAFINA 7830S  F 27.2.06 Again for type this girl was overall very acceptable. The head was of good shape and gently rounded in the muzzle. The ears however were not quite set too right and they were held too forward spoiling the shape of the head. The muzzle was acceptable though they was a defined pinch.  The eyes were of good shape, shape and set in a lovely gooseberry colour. The body was firm and with good muscle tone and with a deceptive weight. The legs were good and were slim and well muscled. The feet were almost rounded. The tail was of medium length and it tapered well to the tip. There was a complex scarab on the forehead and mascara lines on the side of the head. The necklets were broken. The undercoat was just a little darker for my liking and it thus reduced the contrast showing black ticking more dominantly in the hairs. Shown well.

A C KITTEN  (14WEEKS  TO UNDER 6 MONTHS)

1 DAVIDSON’S & VON-WUNSHCHENS’  TIGGERMAU RAHNMOON 78 30S M 24.10.08    A lovely looking kitten which at the moment was showing a little finer and longer in the muzzle than would be desirable. The ears were quite well shaped and set on the head as required.  The eyes were good for shape and set but the narrower head did make them appear closer set. The muzzle was gently rounded. There was a slight dip in the profile. The chin was acceptable for depth. The body had good developing muscle tone. The legs were slim and of good for length and the feet were of good overall rounded shape. There were many , many spots on the body. They were of overall good definition but the contrast was somehow less good because the base coat was a little darker. The paws appeared darker but it was not tarnishing rather it was a greater amount of black banding in the ticked base coat. There was a well defined scarab, mascara lines and there were two broken necklets.  Shown very well.

A C DEBUTANTE KITTEN

1 CASE’S STARRSAILOR MAUVLOUSMISTY  78 30S  F  23.12.08 An attractive little kitten with a lovely head so balanced and close to the standard. No flat planes and with a gently rounded muzzle. There was a pleasing dip in the profile. The ear were medium large and they were set well on the head. The eyes were good for size and shape with that typical upward turn towards the ear of the bottom line. They were of good developing green. The body was firm and with good muscle tone. She was deceptively heavy for a kitten. The legs were slim and the feet were rounded in shape. The tail was good for length and it tapered well. The undercoat was a lovely pristine silver and the contrast with the silver was very good.   There was a good well defined scarab and the mascara lines were well contrasted with the base coat. There were two broken necklets. She did appear to have a really good developing ‘worried’ look which was particularly appealing.  A really nice girl and well shown.

2 DAVIDSON’S & VON-WUNSHCHENS’  TIGGERMAU RAHNMOON 78 30S M 24.10.08  REPEAT

3 PEASLAND’S AYSIFA AZIZA  78 30S  F   7.7.08 A pleasant boy of generally good type. The head was particularly good above the eyes with good space between the well set ears of medium large size which were well cupped and slightly forward on the head. The eyes were of paler green with a darker inner rim. They did appear a little rounded today. The muzzle was gently rounded but there was a little narrowness in the head.  There was a complex scarab with lines running over the head and down the spine. There were well defined mascara lines and unbroken necklets.  He did possess a worried look but that was perhaps more an expression of his emotions!  Very cooperative and presented well for the show.

A C  BREEDERS NEUTER

1 BURROWS’ JAZZMAUSIC AMISI 78 36 FN 12.6.08    A well grown neuter boy of quite deceptive weight for size. The ears were quite well set on the top of the head of medium small size with a forward tilt. The eyes were of good size but were not typical even though they were in a beautiful deeper gooseberry green and quite well shaped. The head overall was quite pleasing for shape and showed no flat plans and was gently rounded in the muzzle. The body was firm and quite muscled. The legs were slim with good muscle and ended in neat trim feet.  The tail was good for length and shape. There was a lack of well defined pattern on this Smoke and at times it was not always obvious. The coat did have a lovely silky feel. When she was out the pattern  became more obvious and she possessed a super gloss to the black though there was a scattering of  a few white hairs.  There was insufficient contrast however. The undercoat was a pristine white.  Shown in very good condition.

A C LIMIT NEUTER

1 NETTLE NEWKINGDOM JULIUS MN 4.9.06  An attractive neuter male of very appealing type. A good typical head with gently rounded muzzle with good balance; a slight dip in the profile. The ears on the top were of largish size but they were so well set with a pleasing foward tilt and with good width between them. There was a slight dip in the profile and the muzzle was gently rounded with no evidence on the head of any flat planes. The eyes were full and of good size and shape with the lower lid having the more typical upturn towards the ear. They were of a good pale green. The body was firm and well muscled. The legs were of good length well muscled but slim and the feet rather elegantly shaped for his size. The tail had good length and tapered well. The coat lay well with good texture. A slight resilience was offered by the silver. The pattern showed good spotting which was quite well defined. The contrast was good though there was just a little agouti invasion in the base coat to reduce this. There was no evidence of tarnishing. There was a clear scarab with lines over the head and good defined mascara lines and with two broken necklets. The legs were striped as was the tail which ended in a a charcoal tip.  An attractive boy and shown so well.

2 GROUCH’S CWMDARRAN AZRAFF 78 36  MN 29.6.08  Overall a pleasing Mau neuter but head was not the type required by the Standard. The overall balance was nearly correct though the muzzle was a little long. The ears did appear slightly upright which detracted from that typical look. The eyes were a little smaller and round though he may have been apprehensive. The dip in profile was good and this view was more typical. The chin was of pleasing depth. The body was firm and well muscled especially the lower flanks. The legs were of good size, slim and ended in neat, roundish paws. The tail was good for balance and length and it tapered well. The coat showed some patterning in the Smoke though definition could have been more obvious. It had a pleasant silky feel and lay well. The undercoat was not quite as clear as I would have expected.  Shown well.

A C ADULT KITTEN OR NEUTER

1 ANDERSON-KEEBLE’S GR PR SANTILLO FEROMESES MERCURY 78 30S  MN 10.7.07  A really attractive male neuter, so typical and a credit to the breed. This boy had presence and with such an interesting combination of both a ‘worried’ and benign look.  The head was quite typical with good balance and no flat planes. A super muzzle which was gently rounded and a very shallow  dip in the side profile. The eyes were of really good size and shape and were so well set in the head with good space between. They were of a medium clear green. There was the typical ‘T’ to the set of the brows. The nose was almost parallel with good length. The ears were also well set on the head of medium large size with good width and forward tilt. They certainly carried up from the sides of the head so well. The coat was of really good quality lying well to the body and possessing that slight resilience that silver affords the coat. There were large spots which were well spaced and gave excellent contrast helped no doubt by the wide spacing between them. Definition was very good. A clearly defined scarab and mascara lines with broken necklets were clearly defined. There were stripes on the legs which broke into spots on the upper legs. He had a super pristine silver undercoat, free of perceptible agouti ticking.   A lovely boy with a super temperament to match. Prepared so well for the show.
