I was so pleased to be back in Northern Ireland again at this very happy show with its traditional Irish hospitality. My thanks to Pat Hartin and Denis Shortall for the invitation to judge at the last minute due to bumper show numbers and hope that exhibitors were not too disappointed with the judge changes in side classes. My grateful thanks to Val Prestidge for her excellent help and good company on the day. It was lovely to get to know her better and to spend some time together handling some very lovely cats and kittens.

AC Persian Self Breeders Adult
1 Lenihan’s COOMAKISTA OICHEGANREALT
70 1 M 20.7.07
A black exotic male who was just over a year and a half who was cobby but a little small for an adult male although he may still be growing but I would have liked him to be larger in size. Head shape was broad with neat well set ears that were nicely rounded and placed far apart. The eyes were large and fully round but the eye colour could have been a deeper orange shade and was a little pale for a young male. A short snub nose had a strong stop and a black nose leather. The muzzle was filling out, the cheeks were well filled and he had a scissor bite and a firm chin. The body was solid with thick legs that were low set. The coat was a shiny black and was very sound in colour but not at its densest at this time of year and lacking the plushness that is characteristic of this breed. The tail was short and very thick and balanced the body size.

1 McKeever’s CHARLORIAN MANORS MAN
A blue male who was over two years of age who was very cobby oin shape. I would have liked him to be of larger build as he was rather small for an adult male. He had good head type with a broad top of head that had tiny well set ears with short ear feathers and that were sited far apart with well rounded tips. The eyes were lovely and were his best feature being large, fully round with a bold expression and deepest copper colour. The nose was short and had a strong nose break and a full blue nose leather. His chin was deep and balanced and the cheeks were full and the muzzle was broad with a scissor bite. The body was solid, of a good weight and set on short thick legs. His coat was like a powder puff being very full and with a dense undercoat but was not long and flowing and was of a rather dark shade of steel blue and sound in colour. Show preparation was very good and he had a gentle easy going nature.

1 Caughey’s HINTZKITZ UNFORGETTABLE
70 8 M 22.4.08
A brown tabby exotic boy who has lived up to his name as he has good type with excellent tabby features. He is not yet a year old and has still some developing to undertake so can only get better. Body shape was cobby and strong set low on short thick legs which had round large paws. Very strong broad head that was well balanced with well placed round tipped neat ears sitting low on the head. Large eyes that were bold and fully round and had orange eye colour and again not yet fully settled and still developing. Lovely fat chubby cheeks, a broad spotted muzzle , rounded forehead with a strong tabby ‘M’ and a short snub nose that had a very small pink nose leather that had large nostrils. Tabby markings were dense black on a rich copper brown ground colour and were very clear on the head and cheeks. There was a good butterfly on his back and three very well marked dense black stripes running down his back. The neck had numerous very clear necklaces and good barring on his limbs as well as a spotted tummy. The coat was fabulously dense and plush and stood out well from the body and was very soft as well as the best exotic coat I saw at the show. The tail was short and very thick and in proportion to the body length. A boy who was presented to a high show standard.
2 McKeague’s KATYKAYE LEGEND
A very lovely blue and white bicolour boy who was almost a year old and who had good persian type. The top of head was broad and had small well set ears that were just a little open at the base and which were both blue. Large eyes that were fully round and bold had super deep copper eye colour. The nose was very short with a strong stop and a pink nose leather. The cheeks were full, the muzzle had good width and he had a scissor bite with the upper incisors slightly dished. His face was totally white The coat was very beautiful being full, long and free flowing with a lovely deep long frill framing the face. He had fluffy trousers and a short very fluffy blue tail. The texture was silky and soft and was sparkling and in perfect condition with excellent presentation.

1 Craig and Bell’s KATYKAYE SPECIAL REQUEST
A blue cream tabby and white exotic girl with good type who I have met several times before and who is very cobby, of a good size with a solid firm body set on short thick legs. Broad head shape that was rounded and balanced and had small round tipped ears that were well sited far apart on the head. Smooth forehead and large eyes of round shape with excellent deep copper colour when she opened them for us. The nose was broad and very short with a very strong stop and a small pink and blue nose leather with good size of nostrils. She had fat plump cheeks and a well formed muzzle. The chin was muscular and firm and she had a scissor bite. The coat was very dense and fully plush standing out well from the body and having an excellent soft texture. The tail was very short and thick, fully coloured with blue and cream showing tabby rings and a blue tip. The body was mainly white with a white bib and underside and all four limbs were white with tabby spots. Her back had a cream and a blue patch which had faint blue and cream tabby markings on a cool beige agouti ground. The head had blue tabby patch over the top of her head and the face had a cream patch on the left side of her face while the lower face was a clean white. A cat with a placid nature who was in good condition.
2 Sattar’s SHEERBLISS SHERE KHAN
70 9 M 10.4.08
A classic red tabby exotic boy, only just an adult, who I have judged as a kitten and who is developing well. He is growing into a well built strong boy with good boning and sturdy short legs. However, he still looks very much like a kitten and is still immature but has time on his side. Well balanced shape of head which was broad with a smooth top, rounded forehead which had wide set ears of small size. Good fat cheeks and a well formed muzzle that was slightly paler in colour. Very short snub nose had a strong stop and fully formed pink nose leather. The eyes were large, perfectly round and had superb deep copper colour that does not come any deeper and the face had a lovely bold wide awake expression. The chin was deep and balanced and he had a scissor bite. His coat was soft and of medium length but was not very dense or plush at present possibly as it was lacking a little in undercoat but his tabby markings were excellent as he had all that should be seen in a tabby. The red markings were a very rich deep shade of red overlying a good red ground colour. He had an ‘M’ on his well rounded forehead, lighter spectacles around the eyes, pencilling on the cheeks, head lines, necklaces, thumb prints on the ears, deep red butterfly on the shoulders, spine lines and oysters on the flanks. His tummy had red spot and he had a short well ringed tail. A friendly boy with good show manners.
3 Canmore’s ZENDIQUE TEARDROP EXPLODES
A blue cream tabby and white exotic girl, aged one and a half years old, with good type and excellent cobby shape that was firm and solid and of medium size set low on short strong legs. Good breadth of skull but not smooth rounded and having a definite head bump which was very unfortunate as she is a pretty girl. The ears were small, round tipped and set far apart on the head. Huge round eyes had eye colour that was orange but had a slight green rim and had clear surrounding spectacles. The nose was very short with a very strong nose break and a small pink nose leather that had good size nasal openings. The cheeks were full and she had a wide muzzle and a full formed chin with a scissor bite. The upper part of the face was tabby showing blue markings on a cool beige agouti ground and overlaid with cream which was repeated over the whole of her back region but her lower face covering the chin and muzzle was pristine white with a white bib and underside. All four feet were white and had coloured tabby spots. The coat was thick and dense and felt plush and of correct texture for an exotic with a thick short tail. A very sweet girl who behaved well when handled but placed lower on account of her head bump and eye colour.

1 McWilliam’s CHYDAZ GIRLLIOUS
A red tabby colourpoint girl who was not yet a year of age but with good type and a very pretty face. She was cobby in shape set low on short legs. Well rounded head that was well balanced and had correct width with small ears that had long ear feathers and which were set well apart on the skull. Sweet apple shaped face with large round eyes that were bold and had pure blue eye colour that was very good and of a depth sadly not often seen in this breed. She had full cheeks and a very short nose with a full pink nose leather. The chin was strong and balanced and she had a scissor bite. Her coat was lovely and soft, being a pale apricot white shade and was of a good length with a good frill developing and points which were a rich red colour over an apricot agouti ground colour. The points were all well matching and contrasted well with the main body colour. Tabby markings were clear on the points and she had a mask that showed a clear ‘M’ on her forehead and with clear lines running back from the eyes. She had thumb prints on her ears and faint barring on her limbs and tail. A charming lass who handled like a dream.

1 McKeague’s SHEERBLISS DREAM COMETRUE
A tortie and white girl only just an adult who was very cobby in shape with a broad rounded rump, set low on short fat legs. She had a lovely coat that was sparkling white all over the body. It was long, full and of a very soft texture with a very fluffy fully coloured tail. Head shape had good width being broad and with well set ears of small size. A very short nose had a strong stop and a full pink nose leather. Eye colour was excellent being a deep copper shade and the shape was fully round and large in size. The cheeks had plenty of fullness and she had a broad muzzle and a very strong chin with a scissor bite. There was black over the back of her head and the chin was red and she had a little short red moustache. All four legs were white and she had a white bib and underside. A sweet soul who handled very well and who was beautifully presented.
2 Malcolmson’s CH RISETTA ROSEBUD
A seal tortie colourpoint girl who I have admired many times before and I still like her just as much as she is a very pretty female with a truly persian cobby shape, short body, broad rump and short dumpy legs. Rounded head with good width and a well rounded forehead. The ears were small, nicely furnished and set wide apart fitting into the rounded contours of the head. She had fat chubby cheeks and a very short nose that was broad with a strong stop and small black nose leather with full size nasal openings. Her eyes were large and fully round with blue eye colour which could be deeper for perfection. The muzzle had good width and she had a very strong balanced chin with a not quite level bite. Her mask covered the face well and was displaying good tortie patching with shades of red and seal brown, mainly well matching apart from the tail which was just a shade paler but was full, short and bushy. The body was well clothed in a long full coat of pale cream with a lovely full frill and fluffy trousers. It was soft and of an excellent texture and was only a little shady on her flanks and with a small patch between her legs. Three of her feet were broken with tortie colours and one foot was solid A most attractive girl who was a little poser when handled and who was beautifully presented.

1 Leppard’s KLASSYKLOGS KATRIONA
13c1 F 5.4.08
A seal birman girl who is just an adult and who I have judged several times before and find that she is living up to her early promise. She has lovely birman type having a medium size body which was firm and solid and well grown for a young adult with medium height legs that were well muscled and with short paws. She had a broad head that was well rounded with well set ears of medium size placed well apart on the skull. She had an excellent profile with a medium length nose that had a slight dip at the nasal bridge and with a full seal brown nose leather and a firm well tapering chin. The cheeks were full and rounded with wide cheek bone structure and she had a good level bite. Her eyes were glorious being almost round with the deepest blue colour possible and with the loveliest expression. Her coat was very soft, long and silky in texture with a good ruff and was of a clear pale shade of beige showing a slight hint of golden hue over her back. The tail was bushy and of medium length and in proportion to the body length. The mask was well developed on her face and matched the other seal points very well. All four feet were very clean and sparkling white with the gloves being slightly scalloped but of a very well matched, of correct length and almost reaching just up to the angle of the paw. The socks covered the entire paw but were not perfectly matched on the upper surface with the right hand one just slightly higher. The gauntlets were of equal length but differed in their widths with one tapering well to a point close to the hock and the other one just slightly wider and more blunt in shape. She was a little poppet when handled and was perfectly presented. A very lovely girl who is a good example of the breed and whose progress I shall follow with interest.
2 Brigliadori and Robson’s CH SCHWECHINTHE KALINDA
13c3 F 24.6.07
A one and a half year old chocolate birman girl with lovely type and very pretty feminine features. She had a well rounded head with good width and with well set ears of medium size that were spaced far apart. Excellent profile with the correct slight dip in the nose which was of medium length and had a full chocolate nose leather. The eyes were almost round in shape and had a lovely expression with good blue eye colour. Her chin was firm and tapering well and she had a level bite. The cheeks were full and round and her face had good width with a full milk chocolate mask covering the face. It was of a correct milk chocolate shade as stated in the standard of points and not the dark chocolate shade that is often seen on the bench. The points were all well matching and she had a fully furnished tail of medium length which was slightly brindled on the upper surface at present. She had a firm body that was solid but a little on the small side at present and supported on firm well muscled legs with short paws. The coat was lovely and clear, of an ivory shade, and was very soft with a silky texture. The feet were pure white, very clean and sparkling. The gloves were fairly well matched just to the angle of the paw on the upper surface and rising very slightly at the sides and just reaching the stop on the undersides. The socks were well matched and she had good symmetrical gauntlets that tapered neatly. A girl with a delightful temperament who was expertly presented.
3 Assinder’s GEBUHRCOONS DREAM DATE
64 41 F 29.3.07
A classic brown tabby maine coon girl aged almost two years old with excellent physique having a long body with good rectangular shape, long neck and square rump set on well muscled legs with good boning and large well tufted paws. Medium length head shape which had the nasal bridge half way between the ear line and the nose tip. She had a fairly square muzzle with a long nose of uniform width and with a shallow curve in profile and a full pink nose leather rather than brick red. The cheeks were fairly full and had high cheek bones. The chin was firm and she had a good level bite. Her ears were large and tall, sitting proud on the top of head and were wide at the base with good ear tufts and feathering. Full round eyes had yellowish green eye colour and were spectacled, well spaced apart with a slightly oblique aperture and setting and a pleasing gentle expression. Tabby markings were excellent both on the head and body and were a dense black over a warm copper agouti ground colour which glowed. Head markings were very clear with an ‘M’ on the forehead, headlines, eye lines and pencilling on her cheeks. The body had a good butterfly over her shoulders and three very solid dense black stripes running down her back and oysters on her flanks. The coat was semi long, glossy over her back and was shaggy on her underside and breeches. The tail was very long reaching well forward to the shoulders and was flowing and tapering gently towards the tip. A very regal cat with plenty of presence and who was easy to handle. A cat that was worthy of a first place but unlucky to have had such good competition in this class.

70 30s M 20.5.05
An old favourite of mine, a very handsome chap black silver spotted exotic boy who is now approaching four years of age. He is a chunky solid heavy boy with a well muscled body supported on short thick legs with large fat paws and who had a short thick neck and well rounded rump. Very good head type which was large and very broad with small round tipped ears that had good ear set. The cheeks were full and chubby and he had a very short nose that was broad with a strong nose break and a small pinkish blue nose leather that had full open nostrils. He still has fabulous eye colour of deepest copper with large rounded eye shape with a lovely bold expression. The chin was strong and balanced the upper part of the face and he had a broad muzzle and fat whisker pads showing good tabby spots and he had a scissor bite. He was moulting heavily at the show and so his coat was not at its densest but it was soft and thick and had a pattern of dense black that contrasted well with the silver ground colour. Tabby markings were clear throughout on head and body. The head had clear lines running over the top and good pencilling on his cheeks. There were necklaces and barring on his limbs and he had a lovely well spotted pattern on the body and underside with three broken spine lines visible down his back. The tail was short and thick and had clear tabby rings and found later to have a very slight curve at the extreme tail tip when could only be felt in one direction possibly due to being stepped on as I have judged this handsome boy several times in the past and have never been felt it before.
2 McKeague’s CH MAGAROSA WILDTHING
8a M 25.6.05
A blue tabby longhair tabby who was over three and a half years of age and who had good type and was well grown in size being a large chap with a cobby body shape set on strong thick tree trunk legs. He had a fabulous long full coat which made the tabby markings less clear Excellent broad head, well rounded and with plenty of space between the ears which were small and had long feathery ear furnishings. Huge round eyes were bold and expressive but had pale orange eye colour possibly due to the fact he was an older cat. The nose was very short with a strong stop and a full pink nose leather edged with blue. The cheeks were full and rounded and he had a pale muzzle that showed tabby spotting. The chin was strong and he had a slightly undershot bite. The coat was soft and had a thick undercoat with a very long full frill framing his face. Tabby markings were fairly deep blue on a cool beige agouti ground colour and were more diffuse over the back and head but were nevertheless faintly visible. He had good barring on his legs and a short very bushy tail with faint tabby rings. A gentleman when handled and who was well presented.

The nose was very short with a strong nose break and the muzzle had good width with a strong chin and a not quite level bite. A cream colourpoint kitten of five months who was a good size for his age and has promising character and looks. The body was well balanced and shapely with short sturdy legs. Broad top of head with good spacing between the ears which were small and round tipped and had long ear feathers. The eyes were fully round and had good blue eye colour and a pleasing facial expression. A short snub nose had a good break and a well formed nose leather. The cheeks were needing to fill out more with a muzzle that was needing to broaden further but he has plenty of time on his side. The chin was deep and very strong while the bite was very slightly overshot and should be very level later. He was well clothed in a long thick coat that was fine and silky and was a lovely creamy white shade with points that were cream and which contrasted well with the body colour. A short bushy tail that was in proportion to the body length completed the picture. A placid kitten who was relaxed when handled.

A delightful blue tabby birman kitten who had good type and was a good size and build for her age of six months. Her body was solid and firm with medium height legs with short strong paws. The head was broad and rounded and had medium size ears placed well on top and which had clear thumb prints. Medium length nose with correct birman profile having a slight dip at the nasal bridge and with a full pink nose leather edged with a blue outline. The cheeks were well filled for a youngster and she had a spotted muzzle and a firm chin with a level bite. Almost round shaped eyes had good mid-blue eye colour and were bright and alert and showing light coloured spectacles. The coat was lovely and long with a very silky texture and covered her frame well with the ruff starting to develop. It was a cool bluish white and contrasted well with the tabby points of blue on a light beige agouti ground colour. The mask had a clear ‘M’ on her forehead and the other points were well matched in colour with only the legs slightly paler but having clear barring visible. The tail was well furnished and of medium length in proportion to the length of the body and had faint blue tabby rings visible. The feet were sparkling white with gloves that were well matching on the upper surface and onlky just creeping up slightly at the sides. On the underside the left glove ran up to the stop and the edge was hard to see as the limb fur was so pale on the paw and so was given the benefit of doubt. She had well matching symmetrical socks and level matching gauntlets. A little sweetie when handled who was beautifully presented.

1 McCarthy’s COOMASKISTA KOTA KINA BALOU
70 12a2t M 31.8.08
A very cute classic blue tabby and white exotic kitten who looked very promising in his pen. When handled he had lots of rude language for us and when we returned him to his pens we noted that he was limping and could not stand on one of his legs and so we called the duty vet who confirmed he had a leg injury and hence he was removed from his other classes. He was just a little small for a kitten of six months of age but had a solid firm body with a cobby shape set low on the leg. He did not want to stand and kept lying down no doubt due to his injury. Strong shaped head that was rounded and verily broad with tiny well set ears. Lovely round eyes with good orange eye colour. A short snub nose had a very small pink nose leather with rather small nostrils that I would have liked larger and more open. The cheeks were fairly full and he had a white muzzle with a strong chin and a scissor bite. The head had a good ‘M’ on his forehead, pale spectacles around the eyes and good head and eye lines. The bib and underside of the body were white and he had four white socks on all feet. Theere was a very clear blue butterfly over the shoulders and two very strong and broad unbroken spine lines and a thin central one running down his back. The barring was good on his legs and he had a fully ringed short tail. Coat texture was good being dense and plush and standing out well from the body. I hope his injury was not serious as he is a very sweet kitten.

The cheeks were fairly full and he had a deep chin with an undershot bite. The coat had rich red tabby markings on a paler silvery red agouti ground colour. The upper face was tabby while the muzzle, chin, bib and underside were all white and he had four white socks. There was a red butterfly over the shoulders and barring on the legs. The tail was short and well ringed but the tabby lines on his back were very diffuse and unclear. The coat was of medium length and was not dense at present but lying a little flat. The tabby markings were a deep red on a bright apricot ground and were clear on the head and body showing an ‘M’ on his forehead, eye lines running backwards from the face and head lines running over the top of his head. Body tabby markings and leg barring were clearly visible. A big lump of a cat who was a real gentleman when examine and who was well presented.
2 Taylor’s ALINDAS BONNIE
A blue cream and white girl who was just an adult. She was a good size and had a cobby body shape and had good head type. Broad top with well set neat ears. The eyes were large, fully round and had super deep copper colour and sweet expression. A short snub nose, fat cheeks and a broad muzzle. The chin was very strong and prominent and she had a scissor bite. There was a cream panel down the front of her face over the forehead, nose and chin with white on the left muzzle. Her bib and underside were white. The coat was mainly blue on her back and the blue patches on the coat were a dark shade and had many dark hairs visible which detracted from her appearance and she could have done with better show preparation. A good natured exhibit when handled.
Thank you to Pat and her team for the invitation to this very friendly show. The quality of the Burmese entry was excellent and I am extremely touched and grateful for the support of the exhibitors who entered their cats in my classes- including two entire litters of kittens- a real treat!
Class 352a Brown Burmese Kitten Male
1st Niblock’s Emer Darby Ogill (27) M 31.10.08
A well developed brown boy showing promise. He had a moderately short wedge with very good width at his cheekbones and a blunt finish to his muzzle that I would have preferred slightly shorter for preference. He had very good rounding to the top of his head and had excellent width between his ears that were set well apart- slightly too low initially but that did improve as he relaxed. His ears were medium to large in size and were the correct shape having a broad base and rounded tips. His eyes were medium in size and were set well apart but were slightly deep set. They had a very well defined correct shape with a well rounded bottom line and a flatter top line that was angled towards his nose. They were a lovely golden yellow in colour and he had a very nice Burmese expression which would have benefitted from his eye size being larger. In profile the depth of his head was very good and his ears showed a slight forward tilt. His brow was gently rounded and his nose break required more definition today. His nose was slightly long and rounded towards the tip. His chin was of medium depth and was slightly setback. His bite was correct. He was well grown for his age displaying excellent muscularity already and felt very “manly”. His back was straight and his chest was rounded and he had longish elegant legs that finished in neat oval paws. His tail was medium thick at the base and then tapered to a rounded tip. It was long enough to balance. His coat was a particularly strong feature being short and fine textured and very mature for his age. It was a warm mid seal brown and he was clear coated. His condition was excellent and he was a friendly boy who was slightly overawed by his day out.

1st Niblock’s Lillyrae Rising Sun (27b) M 04.07.08
What a big chap! He had a short wedge with reasonably good width at his cheekbones- just a little more would have benefitted his wedge shape. It then tapered to a muzzle which was slightly long but had a blunt finish. He had excellent rounding to the top of his head and his ears were set slightly high. His ears were medium in size and a correct shape having a broad base and rounded tips. His eyes were medium large in size and set well apart. The 2 lines of his eyes were acceptably different with the bottom line being rounded and the top line flatter and angled towards his nose- however I would have preferred the bottom line to have more rounding. They were a golden amber colour. He had a fairly good Burmese expression. In profile the depth of his head was very good and his ears showed a correct slight forward tilt. His brow was rounded and his nose break was reasonably well defined. His nose was slightly long but straight and finished in the same vertical plane as his chin that was of medium depth. His bite was correct. His body was very well grown and he felt heavy. His back was straight and his chest was rounded and he had somewhat large paws. His tail was medium thickness at the base and tapered to a rounded tip and was long enough to balance. His coat was medium in length and lay well and was a soft texture. He was a lovely warm fairly even pale chocolate. His condition was good and he was very friendly and would have preferred to have stayed with us rather than be back in his pen

1st McKenzie’s Ismisha Caribou (27c) MN 9.7.06
A handsome chap who was a little fed up by the time we got to him. He had a short wedge with good width at his cheekbones and tapering to a blunt muzzle which was fairly short. He had reasonably good rounding to the top of his head and very good width between his ears that were set well apart. They were medium in size and had abroad base and rounded tips. His eyes were large in size and set well apart and had a well defined shape with a rounded bottom line and a straighter top line angled towards his nose. They were gold in colour. He had a very good Burmese expression. In profile he had good depth to his head and his ears showed slight forward tilt. His brow was gently rounded and his nose break was reasonably well defined. His nose was a trifle long and straight and finished in the same vertical plane as his chin which was medium in depth. His bite was correct. His body was large in size and had good muscularity. His back was straight and his chest was rounded. His tail was medium thick at the base and tapered to a somewhat blunt finish but without a tail fault. It was just long enough to balance. His coat was medium short and lay well and was a darker toned lilac with warmth apparent. He was clear coated. His condition was very good and he consented to be handled.
