Mrs D Brown

My thanks to Jane & Irene for the invitation  to judge at this very enjoyable show. It is a pity the entries were a little down but the quality of the cats present was still very good. I am grateful to Linda Dinsdale for stepping in as my steward at the last minute, she did an excellent job and I hope she will steward for me again sometime.

OPEN CLASSES
Imperial Grand Premier Male
IMP – Ellis’ GD PR MYLYNN MOONSHADOW (62 20) 09/12/06. A very beautiful boy. Super head with excellent top line and large beautifully furnished ears set to balance. Oriental eye shape and set with excellent expression and super vivid green colour.  Strong profile,  spot on chin and level bite. Excellent substance and tone to long body, long strong limbs, tail just about balances. Good pattern though spine line solid -  which is typical of this  breed, colour correct, black spotting on warm ground. Coat length could ideally be a little longer but is acceptable given the time of year, and the texture is good, with plume  very well furnished.  Excellent to handle as always and presented to perfection.

R – Wheatley’s GD PR YELOWPERYL THELEGEND (37d) 27/09/05.  An elegant and handsome lad of very good type. Longer wedge with very good top of head and large flared ears set to follow  Snooty expression to eyes of oriental shape and set with good clear green colour.  Almost straight profile, good chin and level bite. Excellent length and tone to body, long elegant limbs and long whip tail to balance. Bright red coat with just a little pattern evident, red to roots and of very good length and texture. Handled really well, purred throughout. Excellently presented.

Imperial Grand Premier Female
IMP – Hutchings GD PR WILLHAVETODO IMJUSTDIVINE (43e) 04/08/07. A very beautiful but desperately shy lady neuter that I have judged on very many occasions and have little to add to my previous critiques. Her coat showed a slight grey area at the roots today but the  texture was excellent, short and beautifully sleek.

R – Hart’s CH & GD PR APRIKAT SWEETCHARITY (62 21) 31/05/04. I have always liked this super lady but must confess to hesitating over the certificate today because of her coat texture.   Short strong little wedge  with very good top of head and large nicely furnished ears set to balance. Very good shape and set to eyes with sweet expression and excellent green colour. Strong profile and deep chin with level bite. Good length and substance to body, medium length limbs and neat paws for this breed, tail to balance. Coat pattern very attractive, dense black beautifully mingled with various shades of red from pale to really rich in tone, perfectly sound which is impressive considering how long her coat is. It was this that made me decide she was worthy of the certificate, even though the texture was not particularly good  and I suspect this was due to lack of show preparation rather than anything else. Very sweet to handle.

Oriental Ticked Tabby Kitten Male
1st & BOB – Fremont’s LUNATORA TAKEACHANCEONME (45s) 27/01/09. An extremely well grown little boy of very promising type. Good head type with very large flared and well set ears. Oriental eye shape and set with very good green colour.  Straight strong profile, deep chin and level bite.  Long slender but really solid and weighty body, long limbs, super long whip tail.  Very good ticked pattern, particularly for a silver cat showing three clear bands of ticking and impressively free from tarnishing. Super coat texture for a baby. Excellent to handle and perfectly presented. Later Best  Kitten – congratulations.

Oriental Ticked Tabby Kitten Female
1st – Wildon’s SUNJADE SILKMOTH (45k) 15/10/08. Almost adult and a very good sized and quality girl, who ran the boy very close for the BOB. Well balanced medium wedge with very good top of head and large open based ears set to balance.  Good shape and set to eyes, can hold a touch wide, colour yellowish green. Good profile and chin with level bite.  Strong weighty and well developed body, long slender limbs and neat oval paws, tail of good length but could be a touch more whippy. Excellent ticked pattern to coat in a slightly muted shade of  cinnamon, showing three bands of ticking, with excellent length and texture. Rather a fiery young miss but handled okay. Excellently presented.

MISCELLANEOUS CLASSES
A.V. Visitors Adult
1st – Partridge’s NUTROSTAR MAMMA MIA (37) F 18/06/08. Neat little queen of overall good type. Eyes are a touch full and the colour is rather yellow toned with green just seen. Super coat qualities, dense sleek black perfectly sound to roots, Handed well.

2nd – Partridge’s NUTROSTAR BLUE VELEVET (37a) F 18/06/08. Litter sister to the above and quite similar to her in some ways,  the head is less well balanced and rather narrow at the top,but the eye shape is better.  Coat colour a rather dull blue and was not very sound today. Good to handle.

A.V. Debutante Self Kitten
1st – Marston’s DENSON SUZETTE (29) F 24/02/09. Dainty female of goodish type. Coat rather uneven and unsound today with quite pronounced ghosting, which should sort itself out as she matures.  Good eye colour.  Sweet tempered.

A.V. Limit Kitten
1st – Cherry’s CIATRA OOPS A CLASSY (41r) M 05/03/09. A well grown boy of good type, but I really should have wrong coloured him as he is very definitely not fawn. Whether he is lilac or caramel is yet to be determined but there is a suspicious sheen to the head markings that makes me think caramel. Pattern poor with almost non-existent butterfly, there is one central spine line with the side lines  and oysters very indistinct, and the tail rings are unusually evenly spaced for a Classic. A sweet boy in excellent condition.

A.V. Adolescent Neuter
1st – Cockcroft’s SOLARUS NIRAN CHAO-FAH (29) MN 08/06/08. This lad is still very immature but has improved since our last meeting and is now a good size, his head just needs to strengthen and catch up with his body. Coat colour a touch dark but very warm and sound to roots. Eye colour also very good.  A sweet boy.

A.V. Female Neuter
1st - Hutchings GD PR WILLHAVETODO IMJUSTDIVINE (43e) 04/08/07

2nd – Goddard’s MYLYNN SWEET-PEA (62 43s) F 05/09/08. A young female, very attractive for type but with a fair amount of maturing to do yet. Coat very good for length and texture but shaded pattern rather too heavy at the moment.

Mr J Hansson

This is a combined show which has now been running together extremely well for quite a few years, long may it continue to do so as I think it is advantageous for both exhibitors & visitors to see beautiful examples of related breeds. To the team representing the Oriental Cat Association of Jane, Irene & Caroleen my appreciation for the invitation yet again.

Foreign White Kitten;
BOB Not Awarded. ABBOTT'S 1st TILDEN WHISPERINGCHENAZZ.
21-09-08. Generally pleasing but somewhat small for a day off being adult, her size more appropriate to 6-7 months. Good length if slightly narrow wedge, very good profile, chin quite good, bite okay. Ears are large but she tends to prick these a little high & they would benefit with a little more flare to their base. Eyes have a good albeit marginally fuller shape, clear bright blue, the colour just requiring a little more intensity ideally. Body as stated very small but her weight in relation to her size is good, bust is going to require a growth spurt to compete as an adult, slender limbs, small neat paws, tail requires a little more length to balance. Coat reasonably short & close lying, very good texture. Clean white coat, inner ears, eye rims & nose leather could be a little pinker. Her temperament was excellent, condition sound.

Oriental Tortie Neuter;
1st & PC BAXTER'S SOLARUS AL THAT JAZZ. 37y. 21-03-08. Fawn, well grown but still looking a little juvenile in head type. Broad wedge tending to puff her whisker pads, making her appear a little pinched, very good profile with the exception of a minimal nose bump, strong chin & good bite. Ears large, slightly pricked forward, but set well apart, good width to their base. The eyes are a little wide yet still retaining a good oriental setting, good green colour. Very firm well proportioned body, with good legs & paws, the tail moderately fine but requires a touch more length. Excellent quality coat, it was tight fitting & close, excellent sleek well prepared texture, glossy sheen. Well mingled & patched in a warm fawn base colour with shades of mainly warmer cream. Her condition excellent, very gentle nature.
Considered for & Awarded BOB. LEE'S CH & IMP GR PR WILLHAVETODO OUIJA BOARD. 37p. 27-05-06. Caramel, quality exhibit who exudes a bit of class & style when she is relaxed in her pen. Lovely even lines to her wedge, very good profile, lost a tooth but the bite otherwise good. Excellent ears, being large & beautifully set, wide flared base complementing her head, set wide & low in a fixed position. Eyes of excellent oriental shape & slant, slightly paler shade, but green nevertheless. Elegant neck, body lithe & taut, well toned, very good length, slim legs, neat dainty paws, fine whip like tail. Close lying length of good shorter length, well prepared, very good texture. Sludgy taupe base colour with shades of varying apricot present, some paler areas on her throat. Her condition & presentation were both excellent, in one her 'I'm not too keen on being taken out of my pen' moods today, despite which she is a very easy lady to assess. Later Best In Show Female Neuter.

Oriental Bi-Colour Neuter, Male;
1st IC & BOB. SOUTHALL'S SENSAY SQUADRON LEADER. 48 40. 26-06-07. Seal Pointed, beautifully grown youngster who is let down a little by his ear set. Longer length wedge which appears quite pinched but this due to his facial markings where the white runs through his mask, ideally his head requires a little more depth to give a more masculine look, very good profile, chin could be a little deeper, marginal over bite. Ears large but requiring a little more width at the base, which he pricks a little high & the effect of tilting them forward detracts. Eye colour though a bright clear blue could be a little more intense, I suspect these are influenced by the white, a pleasing oriental shape if a tad straight in set. Good length of both neck & body, showing well muscled development, slender limbs, oval paws, tail of good length with very slight suspect tip (nothing definite). His coat I would prefer shorter but it was well prepared despite a slightly harsher area along the back towards the base of his tail. Good amount of white & well over the minimum third required with irregular shaped white blaze, white running up to both ear tips, white through throat, chest, tummy & legs, with seal patches on all points & fully seal coloured tail, body has some tonal beige shading with white flash on his back, a bit of scattering of white here & there. Condition & temperament both excellent.

Oriental Bi-Colour Neuter, Female;
1st & IC DINSDALE'S APPLEJACK VANILLA-SKY. 48b. 26-05-07. Chocolate, very reserved firm well developed girl (just a little on the over indulgent side). Medium length wedge puffing her pads due to nerves & exacerbating the muzzle pinch a little, the profile undulating a little, good chin, bite a little over. Ears well placed & set wide apart, nerves making her twist a little down, detracting form the width at their base, larger medium size. Good green to the eye colour, shape & set both good. Body very firm & weighty being a little more rounded in the tummy, well proportioned legs & paws, fine tail could a be a little longer. Her coat was close but a little on the longer side & a mite harsh as opposed to sleek. High white with quite a large chocolate patch on her bottom & tail, couple of splodged head markings, in dark chocolate, all her paw pads showing some chocolate. Her condition was excellent but a little shy & preferred the security of her pen, which I took into account when assessing her.

AV Non-Breeders Self Adult;
SHADOWSQUAD LUCIFERSLEGACY. 37. 17-03-08. Black, worried & rather startled looking chap which puts him at a disadvantage as he does not sell himself. Head has a longer length wedge with some muzzle pinch, good profile, quite a good chin. Ears are large & set well, wide base. Eyes slightly fuller shape, the colour rather pale tone of green, with a startled expression as opposed to wicked. Good length of neck, body long & with good muscle tone, good length of leg, oval paws, tail rather short & his nerves make the tip tense. Coat well prepared but rather long, though generally close lying. Sound glossy jet black. His condition & presentation both very good, but lacks a little in style & finish both factors which are attributable to his nervousness.

AV Junior Adult;
1st HIRST'S CH TOGHAR PASTICHE. 37h. 16-07-07. Chocolate Tortie, this girl has wonderful coat. Medium length wedge which could have a little more triangular appearance ideally, very good profile, good chin, bite marginal, just touches. Ears larger medium size, the width at their base good but she pricks a little high. Eyes have pleasing slant, slightly fuller shape, green in colour. Lithe well toned girl, with slim legs, oval paws, fine tail could be a little longer. Super coat, being short & very close lying, wonderfully sleek finish, excellent texture. Very attractive colour combination of warm chocolate with abundant red, including a lot of brighter shades, giving a good degree of brightness overall, there are some markings on the legs mainly but only in the red areas, it is otherwise sound & beautifully glossy. Her condition was super, excellent temperament, handles well.

AV Non-Self Kitten;
1st WILDON'S SUNJADE SILKMOTH. 45k. 15-10-08. Cinnamon Ticked Tabby, whilst not in my opinion quite on a par with her mother for type (even if she has picked up some her mothers mannerisms in other areas), she is an extremely attractive girl with super pattern elements (another attribute she has picked up from her mother), which just tipped her into pole position in this class. Medium length even wedge, profile good, quite a good chin, level bite. Ears are a larger medium size, wide base & set well apart. Eyes have lovely oriental shape & slant, lovely green tone, slightly wicked expression, Body firm & well proportioned, typically adolescent, slim legs, neat paws, excellent balanced tail. Coat close lying & quite a good shorter length, combined with being well prepared & a lovely sleek finish. Excellent typically Ticked facial markings with flashes onto the brow & more solid skull cap, beautifully defined banded ticking on the body with not a vestige of pattern otherwise, slight deepening on the spine line & tail, solid cinnamon tip, well defined heel markings. The colour has a pleasing degree of warmth & shows excellent contrast creating an attractive coppery effect, with subtle sheen. Condition was super, handles well despite her grumbles & chunters (also inherited from mother). Best In Show Female Kitten.
2nd FREMONT'S LUNATORA TAKEACHANCEONME. 45s. 27-01-09. Black Silver Ticked Tabby, very stylish lad with I feel sure a promising career ahead of him. Longer length even lines to the wedge which could be a little broader but still very young, excellent profile, good chin, bite okay. Ears large & with well flared wide base, excellent set. Eyes fractionally full, but nonetheless the shape & slant both typically oriental, wonderful intense green colour. Long neck, long firm body with slim legs, neat paws, excellent long fine whippy tail. Short close well prepared coat, which was an excellent texture, beautifully sleek. Well marked facial tracings, with solid skull cap, body showing well defined ticking with some small trout spots along his lower sides (which determined the placings), these will hopefully clear as he matures, black heels & tail tip. The contrast between the black & the silver is beautifully defined, the silver being clear, plus as an added bonus there is virtually no evidence of tarnish. Condition & temperament both excellent, he later became Best Oriental Kitten.
Marked as Wrong Pattern. CHERRY'S CIATRA CLARATASIA. 44k.
25-02-09. Cinnamon Mackerel Tabby, should in my opinion be 38k. Cinnamon Spotted Tabby, lovely firm kitten in superb condition. Well balanced medium length wedge, the profile developing well, good depth chin, bite good, despite swollen gums. Ears are a good larger size, very good flare to the base, just tending to carry a little high. Her eyes tend to open a little too fully which detracts a little from the oriental shape, but on the other hand highlights the very good green tone. Body is well grown & excellent weight for her young age, well proportioned legs, neat paws, excellent fine whip tail. Lovely coat, short & close lying, excellent preparation, lovely sleek finish. Well defined facial markings, with spotted whisker pads, lovely cheek tracings, clearly defined 'M' on the brow, thumbprints on the ears, excellent leg bracelets & also the tail rings for a good proportion of its length, colour on the heels, solid coloured tail tip, broken necklets, on the down side, the body pattern is not Mackerel, it does have some linkage to the spotting which in places gives it the appearance of elongated lines where the spots run into each other, but in other places the spots are well broken & beautifully contrasted if a little long in shape, there is also a well broken spine indicating further that it can not be Mackerel. Her colour is very warm & sharply defined against the warm creamy ground colour, spotted tummy. Condition & temperament both really excellent.

AV Non-Self Breeders Neuter;
1st LEE'S CH & IMP GR PR WILLHAVETODO OUIJA BOARD. 37p.

AV Non-Self Neuter'
1st HOLDER'S MYLYNN MANIFIQUE. 62 18. 05-09-08. Black Silver Tabby Oriental Longhair, what a name to live up to, but I've yet to meet one who could do it better, he really did look quite superb, gives the hairs on the back of your neck a prickle, then your mouth starts salivating, quite gorgeous. He has a wonderfully masculine head showing strength & evenness of line you don't often see, his wedge is triangular & beautifully balanced, with excellent profile, deep chin & level bite. Super ear set, wide flare to the base complementing his wedge most beautifully, with some longer inner ear furnishing & lovely fringes at the base, excellent larger size. Eyes lovely oriental shape & setting, excellent green colour, with a truly wonderful trusting yet regal expression, so knows he is quality. Good neckline, despite being just 9 & a half months he is beautifully firm & well developed with good length muscular body, long legs, marginally heavier paws, well furnished plume to his tail which is of reasonably well balanced length (even if I would ideally prefer it just a tad longer). His coat was beautifully prepared soft silken like texture which has quite a good degree of length & certainly enough to give it a degree of flow over the body lines, good britches, longer on the tummy, long whiskers & eyebrows. His pattern loses out a little due to the semi-long coat length on the body, spine line not completely broken but showing enough evidence of break to comply (not being solid), spotting on the body generally good, excellent facial tracings with spotted whisker pads & clearly defined cheek stripes, complicated 'M' on the brow, excellent leg bracelets & good rings on the underside of the tail. His markings are a good black on slightly darker but obvious silver ground colour, clearer on his underparts, with spotted tummy also. He really is a wonderful specimen of his breed & true delight to handle & admire with excellent showmanship qualities, a pure joy & pleasure to drool over. Both his breeder & his owner are well entitled to feel justifiably proud. Later Overall Best in Show, which appeared almost inevitable, very many congratulations.
2nd ELLIS'S GR PR MYLYNN MOONSHADOW. 62 20. 09-12-06. Brown Tabby Oriental Longhair, this lad has really come on & matured, like his half brother above a wonderful example of what can be achieved in an Oriental whether long hair or shorthair. Beautifully strong even wedge, not long but with balance & strength, excellent profile, good chin. Ears are large & well flared at their base providing an harmonious appearance to his wedge, excellent fixed position. His eyes are a lovely oriental shape & slant, with a very definite green colour, beautifully expressive. Body large & well proportioned possessing very good length, very good legs & paws, tail would benefit with another inch or so, well furnished plume. Coat well prepared, texture & flow both excellent, showing good length overall, longer on the chest & tummy, full breeches, wispy fringes at the base of his ears, well furnished interiors. Beautifully defined facial markings, clear cheek ribbons, well spotted whisker pads, lovely 'M' on the brow, body pattern shows some linkage & his spine line whilst not completely solid is more so than I would prefer & a little wide extending down his tail, more evidence of rings on the underside, lovely bracelets, high well defined heels. Whilst I would prefer his colour a little warmer I accept you can't have everything & this lad has a great deal to compensate in other areas. Another super from the same stable as the winner & a quality exhibit unlucky to meet up with another family member, his condition & temperament both superb, plenty of 'oomph' (just not quite as much as the winner).
3rd HUTCHINGS'S GR PR WILLHAVETODO IMJUSTDIVINE. 43e.
04-08-07. Black Tortie Shaded, for type this girl looks super, even is she can wriggle more than any Abyssinian you are likely to come across, pity she is so 'scatty', though this is pure panic despite her caterwauling. Very, very elegant & stylish, even lines to her beautifully feminine head, the wedge of good length, very good profile, chin slightly narrow but has reasonable depth. Large, wide well flared ears so complementing her wedge, most beautifully set. Tends to widen her otherwise oriental shaped slanted eyes, possessing a good green to the colour, touch of panic stricken expression. Beautiful neckline, long lithe, taut yet firm body, long slender limbs, petite oval paws, long fine whiptail slight tension at its tip (not to imply kink). She has a beautifully short close lying coat, excellent texture, sleek glossy sheen. Facial markings are generally good, slightly more solid skullcap, broken cheek ribbons, her body pattern is somewhat muted, the red due to her Tortie elements adding to the problem of whether she is actually Shaded or not, plus the very short coat not assisting, leg bracelets broken with pale red, slight indication of tail rings towards its tip. Her condition was excellent, oh! that she would not get herself so panic stricken at being handled & hiding away beneath her blankets.

Birthday Class, July- December;
1st ELLIS'S GR PR MYLYNN MOONSHADOW. 62 20.
2nd HUTCHINGS'S GR PR WILLHAVETODO IMJUSTDIVINE. 43e.

Marked as Wrong Colour, CHERRY'S CIATRA OPPS A CLASSY. 41r.
25-02-09. Fawn Classic Tabby, should in my opinion be breed No. 41n. Caramel Classic Tabby, beautifully grown youngster. Head has a balanced even wedge of medium length, profile good, firm chin, swollen gums. Slight tendency to prick the ears of good larger size just a little high, very good width to their base. Eyes marginally fuller oriental shape, gentle slant to the nose, he colour rather muddy olive green tone, as yet. Body is beautifully firm & weighty, well balanced legs & paws, good length tail. Coat close lying & quite a good shorter length, well prepared sleek finish. Body pattern whilst following 'Classic' lines was also lacking some of the more usual elements, i.e. there was no butterfly over the shoulders, broad area of solid colour along the back, missing the usual triple lines, oysters present but not complete, well traced facial markings, very good leg bracelets, linked broad tail bands, solid colour up the heels. The pattern colour was a sludgy taupe effect as opposed to the warm rosy mushroom of Fawn, which was particularly evident over the head & back, requiring more contrast between the pattern & the ground colour. Super condition & very composed.

OPEN CLASSES
Oriental Tortie Female
1st CC BOB HIRST’S CH TOGHAR PASTICHE (37h) F 16.07.07
A most attractive and feminine Oriental tortie queen with a medium almost straight wedge and balanced topline. Profile nearly straight, level bite and firm chin. Expressive oriental eyes of vivid green. Large wide at base very well set ears. Elegant neckline, lengthy svelte body, long slender limbs. Tapering tail of length to balance. Excellent coat qualities, very short and sleek with warm chestnut brown beautifully mingled with shades of light and darker red thoughout coat. Delightful temperament, very well shown and presented.
Havana Kitten Female
2nd (1st withheld) MARSTON’S DENSON SUZETTE (29) F 24.02.09
Havana kitten rather small for her age of fair type with a medium wedge, kitten pinch and needing a little more width across the topline for balance. Small dip in profile, neat level bite and firm chin. Eyes oriental in shape, straight set, still rather muddy green in colour. Good sized fairly well set ears. Long fine boned body, long legs, spoon paws, whippy tail of good length. Fine textured short coat of mid brown Havana showing lots of ghost markings. Unfortunately she had lots of scattered white hairs throughout her coat and a fairly large cluster of white hairs on her shoulder, I therefore had no choice but to withhold 1st prize. A confident friendly kitten, comfortably presented and shown in good condition.
Oriental Shaded Neuter Male
1st PC BOB CLEMENT’S PR LUNATORA SILVERMINSTREL (43bs) MN 14.08.07
Mature cat, large and strong looking but very shy and retiring. Medium wedge head, small pinch and very good topline. Almost straight profile, good bite and chin. Oriental set and shape to rather yellowy green eyes. Large ears, flared and very well set. Long slightly plump body, long strong limbs, long tapering tail. Super coat, very short and close lying with a clear silver undercoat pushing well up, tipped with dark chocolate and pleasingly clear of pattern. Showing tarnishing on mask, chest and front legs which I felt looked worse than it was as it merged somewhat with the chocolate shading. Excellent condition and beautifully presented.
Oriental Shaded Neuter Female
1st (PC withheld) HUTCHINGS GR PR WILLHAVETODO IMJUSTDIVINE (43e) FN 04.08.07
I did have a real headache over this black tortie shaded queen, her type is super with a strong head and broad topline. Small rise between eyes on profile, bite just marginally under, firm chin. Expressive clear green oriental eyes she tends to hold a little full, probably due to worry. Large wide at base beautifully set ears. Lengthy firm body, long legs with neat paws and balanced whip tail. Extremely short sleek coat mingled and patched with shades of red. My problem was that I could see no clear and paler undercoat on her ticked tabby coat apart from a slightly paler colour on the red patching. Fairly clear facial markings and leg bars. Excellent condition and presentation but it makes it more difficult to assess this cat as she is so very nervous and difficult to handle.

Many thanks to Jane, Irene and the committee for their kind invitation and to Mavis and her team for the delicious lunch. I am extremely grateful to Sharon Lee for stewarding for me so competently and for her good company, it was a most enjoyable day.

Imperial Male: Imp & Res n/a  1st. TARBOX’S GR CH TIJANMEEK MCLAREN - 37fn - M. 23.08.07. Large well grown boy with a long even wedge head. Large well set wide at base ears. Well set oriental eyes of olive green. Profile shows a bump on his nose and  shallow chin. Level bite. Long muscular body, long slender legs and neat oval paws. His tapering tail is a little thick and needs more length. Close lying coat which needs to be a little finer. Good apricot colour with permissible tabby markings in evidence. Shown in lovely condition. I would quite happily give him a grand but I didn’t feel he was quite up to the Imperial.

No Award to HAGGAR’S GR CH SUSPIRIA SIMPLY SOLARUS - 37r - M. 21.04.07. Sweet natured boy who is very moderate in type having quite a broad medium wedge head with well set wide based ears needing to be larger for balance. Straight profile line. Well set oriental eyes of a light bright green. Level bite with nice healthy teeth and gums. Strong chin. Quite a lot smaller than winner and needing far more weight and muscle tone. His tail is tapered but short. He really is not in good physical condition and his coat is very badly out of condition as well. I am sorry but I did not consider him to either be in condition or have sufficiently good enough type to be given an award in this prestigious class.

Oriental Bicolour Male Kitten: 1st & BOB LYNCH’S FIROUSI FANCY-THAT - 48 40b - M. 10.02.09. Chocolate Point & White.Super stylish little fellow with an excellent head which is a long even wedge with large very well set wide at base flared ears. Strong straight profile line with very slight depression at present. Well set oriental eyes of an excellent depth of brilliant blue. Level bite and firm chin. Elegant toned body, long slender legs and small oval paws. Long whip tail to balance. He has a high degree of white with inverted white V on his mask, predominantly white body with cute coloured lozenges over his head, ears and a few over his back. White tip to his tail. His points colour is of quite a dark shade of chocolate. Short close lying coat. Shown in excellent condition. I will follow his progress with interest.

2nd. SMITH’S LORICHA SCARAMOUCHE - 48 40t - M. 25.10.08. Tabby Point & White. Another lovely kitten with an even wedge head of good length. Large wide at base well set ears lacking flare. Slightly open oriental eyes of good depth of brilliant blue. Profile almost straight. Level bite and firm chin. Firm well fed rather heavy body, long slim legs and neat oval paws. Long tapering rather thick tail to balance. I would like to see a little more white on his face as he has just little patches below his eyes and one on his forehead. He has quite a lot of colour on his legs where ideally I would like to see a little more white. He has a cold tone to his tabby points colour but good clear tabby markings and warm body shading. A gentle boy shown in excellent condition.Lovely coat texture.

Oriental Bicolour Female Kitten: 1st. SOUTHALL’S PATCHESTY MYSTIQUE - 48 40 - F. 24.01.09. Seal Point & White. A very well grown young lady with medium length to her wedge head with wide at base ears needing to be a more generous in size and have more width between. Her eyes a rather round in shape and need much more depth to their blue. Good strong profile but she has a slight bump on her nose. Bite is overscissor and her chin falls away. Long muscular body, long slim legs and neat oval paws. Long tapering tail to balance. She has well over the minimum requirement for white with white on her mask and her right ear is also almost completely white. Short close lying coat. Shown in excellent condition.

Havana Neuter Male:  1st PC & BOB COCKCROFT’S SOLARUS NIRAN CHAO-FAH - 29 - MN. 8.06.08. Moderate length to his wedge head needing more width between his ears which are wide at base and balance. Profile shows a slight break. His oriental eyes are a little deep in set, are of quite a good green but not the vivid green they should be. Level bite and firm chin. Long muscular body, long slender legs and neat oval paws. His tapering tail is a little thick and needs a little more length. Close lying coat which is a little dark in colour but it does have warmth.

Havana Neuter Female: PC n/a 1st. MATTHEWS’ SOLARUS BRONZE STARDUST - 29 - FN. 8.06.08. Medium length wedge head with large wide at base well set ears. Straight profile. Rather open eyes needing to be a much more definite green, the standard calls for a bright vivid green. Level bite and firm chin. Medium size body which is firm and well muscled, long slender legs and neat oval paws. Her tapered tail is rather thick and needs more length. Short close lying coat which is rather dark in colour but there is some warmth to it. Not a very happy girl today. In lovely condition.

2nd. MARSTON’S PR STYPERSON EMMALENA - 29 - FN. 28.02.02.A mature girl with a  medium length wedge head with ears that balance in size but need much more width between them. Rather straight set eyes which have lost their colour now. Bite shows just one incisor present and gums which appear undershot. Well fed body, slender legs and neat oval paws. Tapered tail needing a little more length. She has a close lying coat but is moulting profusely and has a very large area of scattered white hairs over her shoulders. Her colour is very dark ,somewhat unsound and lacks warmth. In good physical condition.

Oriental Cream or Apricot Male Neuter: Entered for BOB only but n/a. BAKER’S PR. SOLARUS MISTOFFELEES - 37fn - MN. 11.07.07. Good length wedge head but he needs more width between his wide at base ears which lack flare. Rather open oriental eyes but unfortunately their colour lets him down and he has a very definite cast. Good profile line. Level bite and good chin. Lovely body, long slender legs and neat oval paws. Long tapering tail. Close lying coat of good apricot colour. Very lively boy in good condition.

Oriental Longhair Neuter Male: 1st PC & BOB HOLDER’S MYLYNN MAGNIFIQUE - 62 20 - MN. 5.09.08. Certainly very aptly named as he is indeed quite magnificent. Perfectly proportioned long strong wedge head with beautifully set large wide at base flared ears. Excellent profile line. Well set oriental eyes of very good depth of clear green - oh that more Orientals had his eye colour. Level bite and firm strong chin. Long muscular body, long strong legs and long well furnished tail. Hard to believe he is only 9 months of age, so well grown and mature. His coat length is still developing, it is fine and silky with fringes apparent and just flows on his body. An absolute joy to see an Oriental of such quality and congratulations on becoming Best Overall - well deserved.

Oriental Longhair Neuter Female: 1st & PC GODDARD’S MYLYNN SWEET-PEA - 62 43s - FN. 5.09.08. Litter sister to above and although very pretty and feminine lacks his outstanding type. Level bite, chin needing a little more strength. Long muscular body, long slim legs and neat oval paws. Her tail needs a little more length but it is well furnished. Fine silky coat with length still developing.which is heavily but evenly shaded and has a clear silver undercoat. A very sweet natured girl in lovely condition.

2nd. HART’S CH & GR PR APRIKAT SWEETCHARITY - 62 21 - FN. 31.05.04. A mature lady whose coat is not in show condition today. She has a strong head which is short but with excellent width between her very well set, large wide based ears. Profile shows bump on her nose. Excellent green oriental eyes which are well set. Level bite and firm chin. Long well fed body, long legs and neat oval paws. Her tail needs a little more length for balance but it is well plumed. Her coat which is of good length is very thick with a lot of old coat present, rather greasy and scurfy and in need of a lot more show preparation. Shy gentle girl.

Level bite with teeth missing, chin shallow and receding. Elegant neck. Long body needing much more weight and tone, long slender legs and neat oval paws. Tapering tail to balance. Predominance of white on his body, face, legs and feet – white tip to tail - well over required 1/3. Chocolate a little dark apart from some pale milk chocolate spots on his back. Close coat of good texture.
2 SOUTHALL’S PATCHESTY MYSTIQUE. (48 40) F 24.1.09. Seal Point & White Bi-Colour. Very well grown. Shorter head with lovely profile. Ears small and require a touch more width between them. Chin needs more depth. Bite level. Pale blue eyes, full in shape – paler outer rim. Long body, well developed with legs and tail in balance. White inverted V to mask, some around her muzzle, on all legs, chest and under tummy. Seal cold in tone – pale fawn saddle – just makes the 1/3 white requirement. Lovely texture to short, close coat.

AV KITTEN 14 weeks – 6 months

Very good oriental shape and set to bright green eyes. Long slim body and legs. Fine stringy whip. Dark warm chestnut brown coat of good texture, but unfortunately with lots of scattered white hairs in evidence.

Many thanks to Jane and Irene for the invitation and to all the Committee – especially the ‘dinner ladies’ –for the hospitality extended.
My fellow Judge Steve Morris came along to steward – I hope it was helpful to you Steve in this Section  - and was great company on a pleasant day.

ORIENTAL FAWN ADULT MALE
1 (CCand BOB w/h) HAGGARS GRCH SUSPIRIA SIMPLY SOLARUS (37r) 2years 1 month. I was sorry to have to w/h on this friendly outgoing lad but he was not unfortunately in Show condition. Medium wedge with ears that could be a little larger and a touch more width between ideally, oriental eyes of a pale bright green, small pinch, good chin and bite, profile almost straight, good neckline, thin and rangy body lacking weight and muscle tone, tail is a good whip but short, coat was extremely greasy and open, some stud tail evident, of warm mushroom tone, lacking a little in desired pinky effect, reasonably sound – a few highlighted areas to sides.
ORIENTAL CLASSIC OR MACKEREL TABBY MALE KITTEN
2 (1st W/H) CHERRY’S CIATRA OOPS A CLASSY  (41r) 15 weeks
A right conundrum here re colour! Medium wedge with large ears set a little too high to balance the lines, small dip to profile. Oriental eyes of pale green chin rounds very slightly but bite is level, firm little body of good weight and tone, tail is short although a good whip. I was not convinced as to his registered colour – his front half, the head and chest looked a pinky tone – the base however more of warm toned beige, his back and hocks and tail were more indicative of caramel (warm brownish pinky grey) with a base of warm rosy mushroom tone. His nose leather and pads were of a frosted pink. I believe he may well be fawn based caramel however his pattern also throws up questions to confuse the issue and I could not be sufficiently sure to wrong colour him. His pattern however was not good enough to warrant a 1st I am afraid – Head markings were clear and well formed with scarab and thumbprints, ribbons, he had 2 broken necklaces, his spine showed 3 stripes and there was a very well formed oyster to his right flank and a sufficiently formed to the left however there was no evidence of the butterfly markings to the shoulder areas at all, broken leg bracelets. Lovely coat qualities. He made me think anyway!
ORIENTAL CLASSIC OR MACKEREL TABBY FEMALE KITTEN
WRONG PATTERN to: CHERRY’S CIATRA CLARASTASIA (44k) 16 weeks No such problems here – entered as Mackerel and clearly a Spotted (38k). Longish wedge with large ears set close and held high, eyes a touch full – she was a bit worried though – of a good depth of green, small dip and bump, chin ok and bite level, lovely neck and firm body, long whip tail, feminine legs and neat paws.
Pale warm cinnamon tone – needing to develop a little more ‘spice’ as yet -  with base of lighter tone. Broken spine line with spotting over shoulders, immediately pointing you towards the spotted version! Spots linked to sides, clearer to lower sides and lovely spottie tummy! These not completely sound, lovely clear bracelets to her toes, tail rings well-formed and facial tracings well etched. Her coat short and tight.
ORIENTAL BLUE NEUTER MALE
Considered for and awarded BOB: ABBOTT’S PR CHENAZZ MRBLUESKY  (37a) 2years 2 months Large and substantial lad whose coat is rather dark in tone but quite sound and of excellent texture, his large ears are a little too high and he has a small pinch to a strong head, eyes of excellent depth of green.
ORIENTAL RED MALE NEUTER
1 PC and BOB WHEATLEY’S GRPR YELOPERYL THELEGEND (37d) 3 years 8 months. Still retaining his good type and a degree of style Nice strong wedge with good profile and firm depth to chin, level bite, ears of a good size – could be a little more open to base and a touch more width between, oriental eyes of good green tone, long body – still stylish and lithe – balancing tail length. Excellent bright red – surface pattern, his pads have lovely freckles on them!
AV FEMALE ADULT
1 PARTRIDGE’S NUTROSTAR MAMA MIA (37) 1 year A rather long and narrow adolescent Ori Black Queen. Long sharp wedge with huge eyes dominating her face although to be fair these of a good depth of green, ears large but set close and held high, almost straight profile, quite a pronounced pinch, chin rounds but bite ok. Long fine body – good muscle tone though, and fine whiptail. Glossy short black coat – a little rusty to under parts and there was a scattering of white hairs to neck and shoulder area.
AV NON-SELF BREEDERS KITTEN
1 WILDON’S SUNJADE SILKMOTH  (45k) F 8 months. Well grown cinnamon ticked who is definitely her mother’s daughter! Short strong even wedge with deep perpendicular chin line, good top line with large ears, lovely depth of olive green oriental eyes, tiny bump to nose, level bite, not a hint of a pinch, firm strong slightly short body, fine whip and quite sturdy legs. Rich warm cinnamon with double band ticking, broken necklace evident, some white around lip area, and her coat short and polished.
2 SMITH’S LORICHA SCARAMOUCHE (48 40t) M 7 months 3 weeks My apologies I judges this boy for what I saw – silver seal tabby and white – but I see now from my book he was not entered as silver, however I think he is!
Strong wedge needs a little more in the way of wider ear flare to balance, eyes a touch full, of a good blue, almost straight profile, firm chin and level bite, small pinch. Heavy body as yet to gain masculinity and toned muscle, tail of good length but this rather thick and heavy. Warm seal saddle of colour to back, the mask and tail being colder and darker however it is evident the silver is playing a part in that, facial tracings evident, faint bracelets, clear tail rings, white flash to forehead and a clear white line to underbelly, tops of legs and chest. Coat of good texture.
AV MAIDEN KITTEN
1 LYNCH’S FIROUSI FANCY-THAT (48 40b) M 4 months 1 week. Lovely little choc pt and white bi colour – perhaps a little bit ‘girly’ as yet but of very promising type. Neat wedge with wide set ears, excellent eye shape and set and of a pleasing depth of blue, tiny depression as yet, good chin and bite, fine neck and dainty boy with whip tail and spider legs. Slightly dark chocolate – a high degree of white to him, lovely warmer toned chocolate ‘drops’ of colour to his back, inverted V to mask. Coat a bit babyish as yet.
2 SOUTHALL’S PATCHESTY MYSTIQUE (48 40) F 4months 3 weeks Seal point and white with medium wedge, ears small in size and set close good profile, very full pale blue eyes – the left appeared to have a slightly green tinge to outer rim, chin rounds very slightly but bite ok. She appeared to just about have the required third white – a close call. Slightly dark cold toned seal mask with white flash, white to chest and underbelly, tops of legs. Her coat was of good texture.

1 HOLDER’S MYLYNN MAGNIFIQUE  (62 18) MN 9.5 months Mr Magnificent indeed- needs no further eulogies from me. He is the type of cat who makes a Judges day believe me! Congratulations on a well deserved Best Overall – again!
2 ELLIS’ GRPR MYLYNN MOONSHADOW  (62 20) MN 2 years 6 months Very unlucky to be up against his stable runner! An impressive cat in his own right without the wow factor of the Victor. Strong wedge with firm chin, tiniest of bumps to nose, well set open based ears, gorgeous green eyes, lengthy body and tail. His pattern clear – spine line still rather solid typically – and quite sound actually considering his hair length, this fine and silky.

What a gorgeous boy sitting in his pen calmly watching the people and cats with an inscrutable expression on his lovely, plump face. You could almost see him beam when my steward lifted him out he was so happy to have a fuss made of him. His large head had clear tabby marking on his face...double ribbons in evidence. Amber, intelligent eyes and long white whiskers. His coat is a bright marmalade colour with clear stripes down his back. So soft and silky that it was hard to stop stroking him. White bib and boots completed hid dapper appearance. A charming fellow that it was a pleasure to handle him.
