NEWS
ON THE DAY ACTIVITIES
The Committee is grateful to all of the two
hundred plus exhibitors who responded to the survey on the
website and through Council. 77% of those responding wish
to keep the show in Birmingham and 63% want to keep the present
format with double pens.
The most popular request regarding on-the-day
activities was for more cat breed information and demonstrations.
To this end we are moving and re-vamping "Club Row"
and are offering facilities for individual Breed Clubs to
give demonstrations of their breeds which we hope they will
take up.
Other popular suggestions were Cat Agility demonstrations
and activities for children on the day which are being followed
up. One of these which is already confirmed is Face Painting.
Lucky Pen Specials will be available throughout the hall and
specials for the Best Decorated Pen and Favourite Household
Pet will be available specifically in the Non-Pedigree Section.
Three authors have already reserved stalls to
do book signings; Sheila Collins with her "Truffles'
Diary" series, Dianne Comber with her book "The
Diary of a Defiant Cat and his pets" and Tom Cox with
"Under the Paw" - YOU might find YOUSELF in this
one as it is based on his visit last year to our Supreme Show
and the nearby Golf Show.
Would you know what to do if your pet was injured
e.g. is stung by a wasp or is scalded by accident etc. ? It
is a fact, that the first few critical moments of a first
aid emergency determines the outcome of the injured animal.
Would you like to know more ? For a small charge you could
take advantage of one of a series of small seminar groups
which will be run by Specialist Veterinary Nurse Lorraine
Duffy RVN Cert Ed MBVNA & Member of the Institute of Learning,
who will be providing hands-on demonstrations of animal first
aid (including CPR). More details will be available in the
next few weeks.
So don't miss out on the chance to exhibit or
just visit this year's Supreme Cat Show and see hundreds of
cats in their "Magical" decorated pens.
Supreme Show Committee
21/02/08 - Due to circumstances beyond our control,
and to maintain the favoured hall and traffic arrangements
we have no option but to alter the date of the proposed date
of the Supreme show by one week and it will now be held in
Halls 17,18 and 19 (as last year) on November 22nd 2008. The
Committee apologises to anyone affected in any way by this
unavoidable decision.
CLOSING DATE
In view of the fact that the show date was been put back by
one week, the closing date for the show THIS YEAR will be
put back to WEDNESDAY 24th SEPTEMBER. This is date of RECEIPT
in the GCCF office and late entries CANNOT be accepted.
UK GRAND ENTRIES
Do you have a UK Grand cat that you would like to exhibit
for a higher prize without competing against the up and coming
hopefuls? This year there will be classes in which you can
enter your UK Grand Champion or Premier for BOB ONLY (and
hopefully BOV etc)
HOUSEHOLD PET SECTION
As time prevented full debate on the Master Cat class proposals for Household Pets at the June Council meeting, the item was postponed to the October meeting.
In view of this, the Supreme Committee has agreed with the Coventry and Leicester Cat Club that their Master Cat Certificates will be made available to the judges to award, at their discretion, to the winners of the normal Supreme classes at the 2008 Show. This will include the winners of both the Non-Pedigree and the Pedigree Lookalike classes.
