Obituary

Phyllis Lambert

I was informed today that yet another very senior judge had passed away, Mrs Phyllis Lambert who died yesterday 21st January 2010.

Mrs Lambert was a venerable senior judge being 101 years.  She was a regular at shows when I first started exhibiting in the seventies, this was in days of bowls & jay clothes, for the judging tables, not all were trolleys in those days.  Many of our more seasoned exhibitors and judges will no doubt recall a very serene and dignified lady to who would always be addressed by the ‘Mrs’ Lambert status.

Though she had not judged for many years she remained very bright, indeed last year when I suggested that we should make a small presentation on behalf of GCCF to celebrate her centenary year, she didn’t wish to have any fuss made.

Diana Harper had kept in touch with Mrs Lambert and kept her up to date with show world.

No details yet of the funeral arrangements, we will post this information when it is received. On behalf of the Executive committee I would like to extend our sympathy to her family at this very sad time.

John H Hansson
(Chairman GCCF)
