COUNCIL

GCCF Pre-affiliated Cat Clubs

There are no specific guidelines laid down by the Governing Council of the Cat Fancy on the initial forming of such a club and it is suggested that you go ahead in the same way as with any other organisation.

If it is the intention of your new club to eventually become affiliated to the GCCF, we would advise that a copy of the GCCF Constitution is purchased (available from this office, price £1) for your guidance in this aim.  You will then see that Article 4 gives the requirements for affiliation.

The GCCF has introduced a pre-affiliation scheme for clubs which are working towards affiliation to the GCCF.  The "rules" for clubs seeking affiliation are as follows:

  1. Any club which intends to seek affiliation should write to the GCCF to declare this intention and inform the GCCF of the reasons for the formation of the club.
  2. Provided that the reasons for the formation of the club do not conflict with the objects of the Council (as defined in Article 2 of the GCCF Constitution), the club shall become a registered GCCF pre-affiliation club. (Clubs for breeds such as Munchkins might be considered to conflict with the objects of the Council).
  3. A registered GCCF pre-affiliation club shall pay an annual fee of £5 and, starting one year after pre-affiliation has been approved, provide the GCCF with a copy of its current rules and annual accounts.  Any obvious anomalies in the rules and accounts will be passed to the club for its information.
  4. A registered GCCF pre-affiliation club is not eligible to hold shows for pedigree cats or to sponsor club classes at other shows, but may offer show support to its members in the form of rosettes.
  5. Once a club has been pre-affiliated for three years it may apply for affiliation in accordance with Article 4 of the GCCF constitution.
