📢 New British Shorthair Policy – PKD testing scheme update📢

By 19 November 2025No Comments

As of the 19th of November 2025, a new British Shorthair registration policy has been approved and will be implemented with immediate effect.

As of today, any GCCF cat or kitten can be registered as active IF:

  • Both parents have been PKD tested and the results have been submitted to the GCCF

(any test submitted after 28/02/2025 must have been vet verified, any test submitted before this date may or may not be vet verified)

OR

  • They can be deemed normal because of the results of the testing of cats on every pedigree line in previous generations. Pedigree line in this case refers to both parents, 4 grandparents, 8 great-grandparents, 16 great-great-grandparents and so on, or any combination of the same which is inclusive of both the sire’s and dam’s ancestors.

To request a change to active for a British Shorthair, please email info@gccfcats.org with the request.
