Pet Vaccines

By 1 October 2021January 20th, 2022No Comments

The Veterinary Officers are aware of problems with the supply of pet vaccines.  There is a worldwide shortage due to increased demand coupled with some companies experiencing manufacturing problems.  As a result wholesalers are supplying vaccines on a rationed allocation basis agreed between the vaccine company and individual practices.

Many practices are prioritising primary vaccinations and booster vaccinations are being postponed for up to 3 months.

The GCCF Veterinary  Advisory Committee will be discussing this issue and the need for any temporary changes to GCCF vaccination rules at their meeting on Thursday 7th October.  An announcement will be made following the meeting.  In the meanwhile if anyone has concerns about the vaccination of their cats and kittens they are advised to contact their own veterinary practice.
