Keeping a safe online community is very important to us at The Governing Council of the Cat Fancy. To maintain this safe space, we have implemented a Social Media Policy which we ask all members to comply with.
If you have any issues or concerns with any comments on our social media pages please email us at info@gccfcats.org directly and you will be responded to between 8.30am and 4.30pm Monday-Friday.
Not adhering to this policy may result in removal from commenting, a block from our social media pages, or further disciplinary action. And remember please keep your comments kind and respectful.
The social media team at GCCF monitor our social media platforms including Facebook and Instagram.
We use these channels to share a wealth of information regarding shows, cat health and welfare, information on breeding and showing as well as any initiatives from the GCCF for both pedigree cats and household pets.
We welcome you to interact in a kind mannered way with us and share your own stories with other like-minded individuals and expect our users to offer the same level of care, respect, and courtesy we offer to them. Individuals should make it clear they are posting their own views when using social media. Any comments should clearly be attributable to the individual making them and not from the GCCF or be mistaken as such.
We will not allow our platforms to be used in any way that could have a negative impact on the GCCF or our community. Anyone connected with the GCCF should refrain from posting any statement that is controversial or inflammatory and which could, in the GCCF’s reasonable opinion, directly or indirectly damage its reputation or otherwise bring it into disrepute.
Please respect the opinions of others and do not use social media platforms to defame, disparage, offend, belittle, abuse or otherwise insult or criticise GCCF members, appointed officials, independent contractors or staff.
We will remove any messages, comments or material that are:
- Threatening or harassing;
- Abusive or offensive;
- Racist or discriminatory against any individual or group;
- Defamatory, derogatory or disparaging; or
- In breach of confidence or privacy
Negative comments can cause upset so please be kind and refrain from making disrespectful or unhelpful comments.
(Please note anyone who repeatedly engages with our platforms displaying any of the above behaviours will be removed and blocked from using our platforms in the future. Failure to comply with the policy may result in disciplinary action being taken by the GCCF.)
Comments on social media posts are disabled unless a response is specifically required.
